Hi House Church Leaders!

As we go through Revelation as a church, we will be sending out weekly sermon summaries and discussion questions to help your House Churches facilitate deeper study.

How to Read Revelation
The Book of Revelation, the final and perhaps most challenging book of the New Testament, has long been a source of both fascination and controversy within the Christian church. Its vivid imagery, apocalyptic themes, and complex symbolism have led to various interpretations.  Throughout history, this book has been used to push political agendas, frighten Christians into a more severe form of devotion to God, taught as a secret book you need to decode with hidden messages; it’s been used to convince cult followers that their leader is the second coming of Jesus and it’s been used as a guide for world events as a crisis unfolds.
Discussion Questions
1. What does it mean for Revelation to be considered a "book of radical discipleship and worship"? How does this understanding challenge or reshape your previous view of Revelation?
2. John's refusal to worship Caesar led to his exile. How does his example of faithful witness in the face of empire challenge modern Christians to live out their faith in contexts of cultural or political pressure?
3. Revelation emphasizes the importance of listening and looking at the right things. How can we cultivate habits of seeing and hearing the full reality of God's kingdom in our daily lives?
4. Pastor Darren shared that the three keys to reading Revelation are knowing its context, genre, and structure. How has this changed your understanding of Revelation? Do you feel empowered to go on this journey into Revelation?
Communal Practice: Faithful Witness

Pray. Invite the Holy Spirit to minister to your heart in response to your reading and discussion.
Confess. Identify areas in your life where you have not fully surrendered to Jesus. Share with others in your group and have them pray for you.
Commit. Share which area in your daily life where you can intentionally witness to your faith, whether in conversation, action, or decision-making.
