I went for the cheap click, didn't I? Boo's fantasies . . . we'll go there in a moment.

First, thank you for your support with An Echo in Time; she's off to a grand start. And thank you for leaving reviews on Amazon/Goodreads. There is no better way to spread the word.

If you missed my release party, I've uploaded it to YouTube. As you'll see or already know, I don't hold back once I get going.

So Otis… I'm ninety-thousand words in, likely another thirty-five to go, and I'm having almost too much fun. I can't say whether you'll like it, but I can tell you I'm up in my office laughing out loud, occasionally shooting out of my chair and thrusting my arms in the air, or chattering away to myself with a bad British accent (once again). Most often, I'm hammering at the keys with rabid delight. Get ready for Otis at his most ridiculous. He's also going to tear your heart out, but don't worry, he'll put it back. (I think; I'm not there yet.)

The following words sprung from my fingers the other day, and I thought that maybe, just maybe, I have what it takes to keep doing this till they put me in the ground. Otis raised his head and met the man’s gaze. Songs lingered in his eyes, ballads of angst and sadness, a life imprisoned behind the twelve bars of the blues. I like it when something like that comes out.

Now to my fantasies… by fantasies, I mean my latest interest: fantasies and science fiction. Was that not what you were thinking? Anyhow, I don't know about you, but I read all kinds of genres, and I'm thoroughly enjoying the drive down this road right now. I know some of you are like, “What the hell is he reading these days?” Answer: whatever keeps me up at night.

Lev Grossman wrote The Magicians trilogy, and now he's back with this tasty tome set in the world of King Arthur. I'm having a blast with it so far. I can't think of a set of stories that affected a younger me more than those of Arthur and Excalibur and the Knights of the Round Table. This one is set during Camelot's decline, and I'm excited to see where he takes it. (Am I the only one hearing Richard Burton singing “Camelot” right now?)

Then, Dark Matter. What a story. I'm suddenly in love with Blake Crouch. His mind is a wonderland, and his lean writing is wearing off on me. This sizzling page-turner will really stretch your mind as it explores alternate realities and quantum physics. Surprisingly, I thought the show on Apple was just as good. They did what I hope a studio does to Red Mountain one day, which is take the novel and run with it, exploring new directions and giving ample screen time to even minor characters.

I'll leave you with what I feel is a must-watch Instagram post. In fact, I'm so into it I bet I'll share it in every newsletter for a while. If there is one living person on earth I'd love to spend a day with (aside from all of you), it would be Jason Silva. He's cracked the code to life. To this specific video he's made, I want my motto in life to be, “I'm good.” No wanting. Absolute gratitude, peace, and satisfaction in the here and now.

Ciao for now,

Boo
