To stay on topic with this section of the newsletter, I want to take a minute to explain why I made Bible Study Basics a course instead of a workbook. I know many of us prefer workbooks that we can download and refer back to, but there are some drawbacks to a workbook just as there are some drawbacks to a course. I discovered with my free Bible study workbook, Learn to Study the Bible, that changes are very difficult. Almost immediately after publishing the workbook, I discovered typos and other errors. While I could go back and fix them, it would be very difficult to get corrected copies into the hands of those who had already downloaded it. It also often changed the layout of the workbook, which affected any pages that came after my correction. While a course keeps you tethered to a device in order to watch the videos and click the links, I can go back into the course and address any mistakes, regorganize the lessons, or even add new resources as I come across them. In fact, I have already discovered a source I need to add to the Old Testament lesson in this mini course. When this happens, all I have to do is send out an email to let you know there is a new resource available. No new downloads needed. Many of you have already purchased my 30 Days in the Book of Romans workbook, and you have received follow up emails with additional resources that I found after I had published the workbook. FYI, I will be turning that workbook into a course, as well, and if you have already purchased the workbook, you will get immediate access to the new course. Honestly, a course just makes it easier all the way around! |
