not not (newsletter)

Hi First name / friend_

There is a cycle of time for everything.

Even as a 32-year-old woman, it still feels like the school year is about to start and I’ve got to head to Staples with my mom for some supplies.

These cycles of time create unconscious instincts. So, question is, how to do we make the unconscious conscious?

We have to be #verydemure, #verymindful.

MINDFULNESS, to me, is both reflection and intention:
  • Ending a cycle — we sit in reflection.
  • Beginning a cycle — we set an intention.
And right now, as I am writing this, it’s the end of a monthly cycle (#period) — it’s also the end of a weekly cycle (#Saturday), and we started #VirgoSeason.

So let's take a moment to be mindful because ‘school’ is around the corner. We have got to empty out the old stuff in our backpack to make room for the new.

Here’s how I do it...

Reflection:
How did the month go?
  • Moved back to Trinidad, CO
  • Set up my live/work studio (pretty sure it’s haunted here)
  • Took 15 new portraits for ‘Hands of Trinidad’ (buy the book)
  • Wasted $2k on an influencer I thought was coach (more how to find a coach and not get scammed next week)
How did the week go?
Intention:
What do you intend for the month?
  • Meet the ‘Hands of Trinidad’ show deadline
  • Launch the Not Not (Podcast) (proud of myself for showing up)
  • Find funding to take the project to my family's home, Waiheke, New Zealand
What do you intend for the week?
  • Send in new portraits to my printer
  • Post Ep. 1 of the Not Not (Podcast) (coming this Sept)
  • Apply to the Lucie Foundation Grant for 2025 (yes, I have a grant application template, and yes I will be sharing it with you very soon)
Here’s how you do it…

You write it down — a sticky note on your bathroom mirror works for some.

But if you’re anything like me, that sticky note has no hope, and you need a bulletproof system — preferably in a well-organized Notion operating system custom built by yours truly like this:

That’s why next month, I’m going to be sharing the setup of my entire Notion system with all 58 of you (hi to the 12 new subscribers!).

All you have to do is follow along here — where I will exclusively be linking all of my systems one newsletter at a time.

This way you get to see me using each part of that system in my real life as a public artist preparing her first solo show!

If you don’t already use Notion
download it here.

If you’re ready to start:
  • the compass. — This is the template I use with all my one-on-one clients to audit various areas of life and pinpoint the exact direction to focus our work.
  • the habit tracker. — This is the only thing keeping me sane in the chaos of my life as of late. Ask me how to adapt it to this weekly and monthly practice.
  • the podcast planner. — You already know I had to make something to plan the Not Not podcast in collaboration with my friend, Lexi Burt. She has her own podcast, The Quest for Wholeness — check out my episode here!
Seriously, download it for yourself and I dare you to tell me it wasn’t helpful.
