Sometimes it's nice to be able to sit down to draw without a plan or without overthinking what you're creating. You know the feeling? It's like how drawing felt when you were a kid. Full of fun, exploration, and play. 

 

Don't get me wrong, I spend plenty of time planning and sketching when I'm working on illustrations for my portfolio. 

 

But when I want to unwind, relax, and make something that immediately puts me in creative flow? There's one motif I turn to again and again – mandalas! 

My favorite way to draw mandalas is in Procreate. The Procreate tools are perfect for creating beautifully symmetrical mandala illustrations. In this blog post I walk through the entire process for creating a mandala in Procreate.
