Nurturing Learning Communities in a Time of Crisis |
|
I just returned from directing a two-weekend workshop for 18 Myanmar teachers living in exile in the border town of Mae Sot. Many of them work for free or for very little, hold inadequate legal documents, and live precariously. The workshop was organized by the INEB Institute and Civic Engagement 4.0 of Chulalongkorn University. I was supported by a team from the university as well as a small group of outstanding graduates of SENS, our own English and leadership program. Having observed the healing that took place in this workshop, the increase in joy and confidence of these Myanmar teachers, and the rekindling of self-respect and the motivation to teach despite difficult circumstances, I want to let you know we are proud we can offer this help due to INEB’s commitment to them. I also want to ask you to support our work financially, if you have the means, so we can offer ongoing classes, webinars, and peer listening to these teachers as needed. Your “dana” to support INEB Institute alumni can be offered at the following website: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/nurturing-learning-communities-in-a-time-of-crisis/ Thank you so much, Ted Mayer |

Little buddha project supported by Clear View Project, Khyentse Foundation and Global Network of Religious for Children (GNRC) |

In August, over 70 children at the Thailand-Myanmar border enjoyed a variety of activities including food, music, and art, all centered around the theme of peace. But it wasn't just about having fun; it was also a learning experience. We conducted two workshops on children's rights, focusing on the four core principles as an introduction. This initiative was organized by the Network of Religions for Children at the Border on Education and Protection (NRCBE). For more updates and educational activities, follow us on our Facebook page: GNRC Thailand - เครือข่ายศาสนาเพื่อการคุ้มครองเด็ก ประเทศไทย. |

How Buddhist Principles Can Help Shape a More Ethical AI |

The third-century Avatamsaka Sutra unfurls a bedazzling, poetic vision of Shakyamuni Buddha’s perceptions on awakening to true awareness beneath the Bodhi tree. Reflecting the diamond-like clarity of enlightenment, the world reveals itself to the Buddha as an interpenetrating matrix of shimmering phenomena expanding through the infinity of inner and outer space. |
