Dear First name / friend,
Happy Labor Day! I hope this finds you enjoying a relaxing day off…whether you work outside the home, are retired, self-employed, and everything in between!
Labor Day got me thinking about the old saying “dress for success." This expression has been around for decades, and there’s a good reason for that—it still holds true today.
(It's also the name of an amazing organization that “empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.” It's GREAT place to donate professional attire…there are chapters nation-wide.)
I remember this phrase being popular when I entered the workforce back in the late 80's —in techie sales job with AT&T - - can you picture me doing that??? Me neither🤔.
I still remember my drab neutral suits with shoulder pads and pleated skirts. (And the terror of having no idea what I was talking about most of the time. Thank God for Woody Page, my Sales Engineer, for keeping me from having a nervous breakdown).
BUT, it was true then and it's true today:
Whether heading into the office, turning on the Zoom camera, running errands, or just spending the day at home, the clothes we choose have a powerful impact on our mood and productivity (and the way others perceive us).
That's what my #justgetdressed mantra is all about. And by incorporating this concept into our daily routines, we can boost our confidence, mood and productivity…. and approach each day with a little extra pep in our step.
You may feel silly doing this exercise at first, but there's something about it that truly works magic when creating a personal style you love. I've seen it happen over and over again for the past 14 years with my clients and members. It's a free and easy tool that is a great first step in establishing the #justgetdressed habit.
And, if this whole idea sounds daunting and confusing, you can get help, direction - and daily outfit formulas - with my Fall Style System.
