Intuition is your ally.

Dear First name / Friend

During my intuition practice I had a vision…

I was sitting at the helm of a small canoe, a swollen moon glittered across the open water.

My boat was filling with water. Strangely I didn't feel fear, rather a sturdy energy inside me whispered, “I have to plug the hole.” I leaned down and saw one hole, then another, and another. I slowly put my hand over the holes, sealing them one by one.

There was a certainty that my life, and the lives of those in my boat, depended on it.

What did it mean?

Just a week after this vision, I read a 2023 study on stress from the American Psychological Association stating:

Out of 63 million parents with children under the age of 18
  • 48% of parents reported most days their stress is completely overwhelming
  • 42% are so stressed they feel numb
  • 41% are so stressed they can’t function

So whether you are feeling mildly, moderately, or severely stressed, you are not alone. And you don't have to be a parent to feel this-- stress is contagious.
My intuition was whispering: “do everything in your power to conserve energy. Plug the leaks.”
Through intuitive practices (attend my training to learn some!) one of the leaks my heart revealed was social media.

BUT…I have been told it's important for business! An inner fear whispers “you won't be able to fill classes and workshops”. We all know for certain the algorithm will bury me. As for my book project, turns out you're more likely to be published if you have a lot of followers.

Yet, my intuition has become louder than the fear: Instagram (for me) is a leak of precious energy.

Instagram is not good or bad, it is simply seductive. I often encounter friendship and humor in the space, which is lovely! Yet unpredictably it can evoke sadness at all the news, an emblazoned anger for the ecological crisis, or a passing jealousy of another space, time, or life. Let's not forget about the cravings that arise from sneaky target marketing.

No matter the skills of mindfulness, social media impacts your nervous system.

That alone is no fun, yet I also must calculate the energy required to regain my center. To return to the present moment, calm whatever has arisen inside, and re-orient to what is right in front of me: My actual life.

Abstaining from Instagram is one way I can reclaim my energy and protect my nervous system. Where are you leaking precious energy?

Activate your Intuition…A Practice

Below is a brief practice to discover some of the places you might need/want boundaries so that your vessel can safely sail the waters of life.

Common energy leaks:
Overextending Yourself
Substances
Screens/Social Media
Self-criticism or Self-judgement
Worry & Rumination
Overworking or Over-functioning
Resentment

Boundary Exercise
Open your practice with a deep inhale and a long slow exhale.
Hand to heart, breathing into the ventricles of your heart, soften.

Journaling
Grab a pen and paper and answer these prompts.
Apply these three questions to one “energy leak” at a time

1) Where am I leaking energy?
2) Am I ready/able to plug this leak?
3) What is the first step I can take?

Answer honestly and without judgement.
You don't need to make a change today.
Readiness comes with time, attention, and compassion.

Repeat for various leaks
