SFN: What inspired you to record audiobooks?

MB: As a little kid, my parents would post me up with a little Fisher Price cassette player listening to Golden Books. Then, as an adult, I used to drive in my car all the time, and the only thing that kept me sane in traffic was a good story. Audiobooks because my best friend, and as a theatre actor who loves characters, I wanted to learn how to do them.

SFN: Do you remember your first? (audiobook, that is!)

MB: It was a sci-fi/witchy book called Cat Magic.

SFN: What's your favorite part of the narrating process? Prep? Recording dialogue? Pressing Save? Something else? What do you like about it?

MB: My absolute favorite part is discovering the voices of all the characters. It's like getting to know some new friends you're going to go on a roadtrip with.

SFN: Audiobook listeners love bloopers! Do you have a favorite blooper you’ve saved or author pickup you’ve gotten during the recording process that has stuck with you?

MB: You know you've been narrating a lot of romance lately when you say "You can learn more about [author's name] and access BONING materials at..." - just glad I caught that one before submitting it to my business book author. There's a big difference between BONUS materials and BONING materials.

SFN: What do you love to do on your days off?

MB: I can't get enough of books so I love to read :) - I'm also a big baker and pasta maker!

SFN: What's the oddest object in your booth?

MB: A tiny raccoon.
