How to meditate.

it starts with a pause.

Meditation can support you in countless facets of life but perhaps the simplest way to describe its benefits is presence. Within the presence of your breath flowing in and out of your lungs, stress ceases, thoughts slow, and wisdom becomes known, even if just for that moment. From that place, clarity and creativity begin to swirl. The heart expands. Love grows.

Meditation need not take a large chunk of time. Though there are benefits to finding stillness for extended periods, if you're new to meditation, you can simply start with a few breaths. Below is a simple guide to start.

How to meditate: A simple guide

Pause for a moment where you are.

Notice where your body meets the surface beneath you.

Invite your body to relax and the bones to soften.

Feel your breath move naturally.

What do you observe?

Watch any thoughts that move through your awareness.

Any emotions too.

Notice the state of your energy.

Invite non-judgement.

Deepen your inhale.

Elongate your exhale.

Do that a few more times.

Bring your awareness to the space around you: the sounds, the textures, the space where your body meets the surface beneath you.

Pause here for a moment, stay for as long as you need.
