The ayah explains the scene on the Day of Judgment when a person's book of deeds is given to him/her, and he/she can read his/her record. The hadeeth is a reminder that we may be able to get a Fatwa (religious ruling or verdict) that justifies us to do what we want. Still, we know in our heart that we unfairly presented the question and should not go forward with that action. In this type of situation, the ruling doesn't legitimize our actions. Another critical point is that not every sin requires a fatwa, and the fact that we don't want others to know about our actions may indicate that we may be doing something wrong. Accountability and standing before Allah should motivate us to improve in all aspects of our lives. |
|
Nawwas bin Sam'an (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about virtue and sin, and he said, "Virtue is noble behavior, and sin is that which creates doubt, and you do not like people to know about it." [Muslim]. |
