not not (newsletter)

👋 Hey First name / friend, welcome to all the new faces this week — whether you’re a loyal reader or one of those ‘friends’ who don’t always open these (jk, you’re dead to me 😉).

This Week’s Topic: It’s not the WORK that burns us out. It’s the WHY.

I used to think burnout was just about working too hard. But the truth is, the real culprit? Losing sight of my values.

And honestly? If I’d gotten specific on mine sooner, I might have avoided the burnout that wiped out my business and wrecked my mental health.

Without your values, you're just checking off tasks, running on empty. With them, you enter a flow state — where your actions align with your core motivators.

That’s the difference between endless burnout and finding a perpetual flow.

It’s not about WHAT you do; it’s about WHY you do it. Understanding your values is the missing piece that can transform something like writing a newsletter from an excruciating chore into a sacred practice that hones your authentic voice.

Like, hello?! That’s a huge, f*cking difference — taking the same task and putting it into two entirely distinct realities.

I’m either writing this thing on the path toward my purpose (values), or… I'm on the other path

And trigger warning: if we’re not on the path of our purpose, what the actual f*ck are we doing on this planet?

You, like me, deserve to know how to actually do that — and that’s my why.

This Week’s Step: the values exercise.

This is the step that would have saved me from burnout — Here's how to get started:

1. Choose your top 3-5 values.
2. Define what each one means to you in every area of your life... and that’s it.

Well, not all of it. If you're doing each step justice, it will require time, boredom, existential crisis, and potential dismantling of your entire reality, but not to worry.

Next week, I’ll show you the next step — how to align your goals with your values in the goals exercies and it will all come together. Easy-peasy, lemon-squeezee.

Each week after next, I’m giving you the exact templates I use to build my entire life operating system — for free — until the end of the year, but not forever 😉

(**humble brag, I have sold this system for $9k a pop, so its kind of a huge deal!)

✌️ Until next time,  Daryl Oh

A POEM I WROTE
THE LOBSTER.
"I am not immortal, but I heard a lobster can theoretically live forever. They just cannot always survive the next molt. It is a soft mushy animal in a hard outer shell that does not grow with it. Eventually, they face the slow painful death of suffocation from the inside out and must peel their own skin off of their fleshy bodies feeling every single tear to survive. Hiding in a cave until a new shell grows too big for them like an echo chamber, they come back the world … me too.”
