Time for Twill!

Is that a chill in the air and the scent of pumpkin spice tickling our noses? Fall is here! Or maybe just around the corner, depending on where you call home. Just in time, we have 2 new types of twill as well as new colors in old faves. Tyler Twill is a 280 gsm tencel and cotton blend with a slight sheen. Our cotton blend stretch denim is fun and colorful with 10% stretch. Perfect for those pants that need a little give.

Twill will have a “right” side and a “wrong” side, so make sure to mark your pieces if the difference isn’t very obvious.
Use a 90/14 needle for medium-weight twill and a 100/16 for heavyweight twill.
Consider denim thread for topstitching.
Use a longer stitch length (3-3.5mm).
Help reduce bulk by grading seam allowances.
Use a hump jumper or a piece of folded cardboard under the presser foot to help sew smoothly over bulky seams.

Twill is a fabric weave characterized by its diagonal lines, which are created by an offset in the warp threads. Commonly used for denim as it is durable and versatile, this fabric can be made from many fibers such as cotton, rayon, and wool.
