Comin'atcha from the Denver airport at 4:45 in the morning. We were able to pull off a quick surprise visit to celebrate my sister's 50th birthday. It was fast but so worth it.
After years of navigating confusing relationships, my siblings and I have all taken the responsibility to care for ourselves first which, in turn, has allowed us to repair and reinvent a relationship all of us only dreamed of. As we age, we're acutely aware of how important it will be to have honest conversations, be open and authentic and stay aligned with our own values while we're sandwiched in the middle of maturing children and our aging parents.
Generally we speak of Mondays in relationship to our professional lives however I am a firm believer that, for women especially, there is very little line between that and our personal lives. It's difficult, if not impossible, to separate the two. And, if we've been successful at doing that, it can catch up with us in ways we don't want.
So, what can we do to make Mondays feel less overwhelming and more aligned with the life we’re striving to build? Here are a few Love Monday hacks to help you start your week with more intention and ease:
1. Start with a Monday Morning Ritual: Instead of diving straight into emails or tasks, take 10-15 minutes for yourself. Whether it’s a cup of coffee in silence, a quick meditation, or jotting down your intentions for the day—set the tone with something that grounds and centers you.
2. Batch Similar Tasks Together: Group tasks that require the same type of focus. This saves time and helps prevent the mental fatigue of constantly shifting between different types of work.
3. Set One Personal Intention for the Week: Even if it’s small, like going for a walk after dinner or spending an hour on a hobby you love, make sure you have something personal to look forward to.
4.
Delegate, Delegate, Delegate: Mondays are a great day to assess where you can get support—whether at work or at home. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or share responsibilities. (If you haven't yet, read
WHO, NOT HOW. GAME CHANGER!!! Thanks for the recommendation Holly!)
5. Celebrate Small Wins: Recognize and celebrate even the tiniest accomplishments, especially at the start of the week. It boosts motivation and sets a positive tone for the days ahead. I love to hear about wins…tag me, email me, call me (but text me first to tell me you're calling otherwise I think someone died)
The key is giving yourself permission to create space between the demands of work and the desires of your personal life. It’s all connected, so why not honor the whole of who you are in the process?
Sending you all the love and support for an empowered Monday and an inspired week ahead!
