G’day First name / friend

Welcome to October! As the year draws to a close and the growing season picks up pace, we hope you've all weathered the recent storms without too much damage.

It’s been a busy month for the East Coast Primary Producers Association. We held our AGM and, on the same day, ran a skills and governance workshop for our committee members – details on that can be found later in this newsletter.

You'll also find an invitation to a stock water budgeting workshop hosted by Pinion, and information on a comedy event in Buckland supporting mental health.

As we look ahead, don’t forget to mark your calendars for our next workshop in November – details coming soon! We're also planning a Christmas party in December, so keep an eye out for the invite. It’ll be a wonderful chance to celebrate the year together.

If you have any news or updates you’d like to share in the next newsletter, feel free to reach out – I’d love to hear from you.  And don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn – whichever platform takes your fancy – to stay connected and up to date!

Cheers,
Tahnee
Annual General Meeting Recap
The East Coast Primary Producers Association (ECPPA) held its AGM on Wednesday 11 September, bringing together members from across our region for a meal and drinks.

Members elected Will Fergusson as our new President and we thank Anna for her incredible four years of leadership as outgoing President. Anna will now take on the role of Vice President.

We also welcomed our new Treasurer, Alex Walsh, and expressed our heartfelt thanks to John Amos for his numerous years of service as Treasurer, especially his work managing projects funded by the Tasmanian Innovation Hub.

We’re pleased to welcome back Astrid Walters as Secretary, and we’re thrilled to have Josie Dunbabin, Nick Pitt, and Ellie Dunbabin join us as committee members.

Looking forward to another strong year ahead as we continue to support our farming community!

On Wednesday 11 September, the East Coast Primary Producers Association (ECPPA) committee gathered at Mayfield Estates for a valuable skills and governance workshop, led by Michelle Swallow from Leadership and Change Consultants.

Funded by the TAS Farm Innovation Hub through the federal drought fund, the session focused on strengthening our organisation and upskilling members for future sustainability. We covered everything from strategic planning and risk management to the duties of committee members under the Corporations Act.

You can read more on our website about how this workshop is helping us build resilience to drought and climate change.

The TAS Farm Innovation Hub and Pinion Advisory are running a free workshop to assist producers with managing stock water in Scottsdale on Tuesday 8 October from 9:30am to 12:30pm.

The workshop covers topics including stock water budgeting, planning and what's involved in moving to a reticulated system. It is suitable for all farm managers and farm staff looking to
improve their confidence and skills in managing stock water on farm, to become more resilient in dry times.

This is an important topic for farmers on the east coast, so if you can make the trip to Scottsdale it's bound to be worth it. Places are limited and registrations close 1 October 2024.
