September Prompt 2 Check-In
SPLIT
"Look at a stone cutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred-and-first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not the last blow that did it, but all that had gone before."
Jacob Riis

Here are a few more things I wanted to share with you for split and below are some recent pieces created in our community!

INSPIRATION FROM OUR COMMUNITY

"I know the prompt is about a self portrait but in a way this is it? I remember waking up everyday to this very old clock, that belonged to my grandma. Every night she would wind up the clock and the the little mechanical hen would start pecking and that was the last sound I heard while falling asleep. Mine was a special situation so I grew up with my grandparents and I associate that sound of the little pecking hen of many of my experiences growing up. I'm not saying the clock single handedly is my childhood but it is there in my memories as a constant background." - SABRINA

"All of this reduces to my need to always do something with my flowers once they dry and whither , I can't just throw them away" - SABRINA

"Tried a blending technique with this trees in fog although kinda looks more like pine trees in the snow. Really like this exercise; the varying tree colors, shapes and intensity. It was very meditative to create and will definitely continue to work more on my blending technique." - KAREN

I can't believe it's already going to be October--where did this month even go?! I'm excited for the new season though and am really looking forward to the next prompt and some of the things I'll be sharing--I can't wait to see what you think and what you do with it!
