Hi friends, Welcome to this week’s spark! Today, you are reading edition #200 of the Sunday Spark along with 3079 friends, and I am deeply grateful for your support. Since Dec 6th, 2020, I’ve been sending this newsletter every week, and it’s been a journey I’ve cherished. I am grateful for the time you give every week, or whenever you have a minute, to read my thoughts and life updates and check the sparks I recommend. In this edition, I share 20 sparks that got the most love from you based on email open rates and click rates. Many of you are seeing them for the first time because we were not email friends when I sent them. I hope you enjoy them. I also bring gifts! The monthly habit tracker and calendar in addition to my favorite tools for reflection: the weekly review and monthly review (which I only shared with goal-setting course members). All download links are below. Finally, wherever you are, I hope you are safe. This week has been tough for our region, and as many friends shared on their social media platforms, we will never lose hope for freedom and a better tomorrow. P.S. If the email message gets clipped, click “view entire message”. |

Here are 20 of your favorite Sunday Sparks from the last 100 editions⚡️ that I thought were worth starting your week with: |
|
- ✨ From my desk: What's the difference between assumptions and beliefs (افتراضات) (Arabic Post).
- 💬 Living with Time to Think is a favorite book of mine that inspired the above post; here is one of the many insightful questions in it: “If I knew that my needs are as important as anyone else’s, how would I spend my day?” ― Nancy Kline
- 💪 25 Habits That Will Guarantee You Success. While I think some pieces of advice in here are harsh, especially if you are hard on yourself already, you still can't deny the surge of motivation you will feel reading these 25 habits from Ryan Holiday's book, Discipline is Destiny.
- ✍ Are you (still) in the annual reflection mode? I sure am. I wish I could spend hours and hours reflecting. I came upon these fresh questions by Courtney Martin (ht to Austin Kleon) and felt they must be shared with you.
- 💬 “The things I do every day take on a certain beauty and provide a kind of invisible architecture to my life. Andy Warhol wrote, “Either once only, or every day. If you do something once it’s exciting, and if you do it every day it’s exciting. But if you do it, say, twice or just almost every day, it’s not good anymore.” ” ― Gretchen Rubin, Happier at Home
- 💞 My husband and I had a legitimate date night last week. It started with finding out our love languages because previously, I just guessed his and assumed he should know mine. Then we answered most of these 36 questions created for building intimacy. Please try them out and thank me later.
- ⏳ This is an excellent and succinct summary of the book Four Thousand Weeks. You must have noticed I mentioned it several times in The Sunday Spark, so yes, I'm obsessed; read it soon.
- 👀 According to Stanford neurobiologist Andrew Huberman, vision and breathing may be the secrets to reducing stress instantly.
- 💡Try Feedforward instead of Feedback. I admire this tool created by the author and executive coach Marshall Goldsmith, and I am thinking about using it in my future coaching groups.
- 💬 A quote that highlights the importance of taking pauses to free up your mind: “When your mind is preoccupied, your impulses—not your long-term goals—will guide your choices." ― Kelly McGonigal Ph.D., The Willpower Instinct
- 🔔From my desk: Reminder to mid-day self.
- 🖼️ In love with the sketch notes of this artist, see this one about Essentialism. A recent conversation with my friend reminded me how much I loved this book that I created this post about it.
- 💡 Making the Mundane Magnificent: A Fresh Approach to Everyday Tasks. I loved the question at the end!
- 💡I hope you get to reclaim your evenings this week. Here are 10 Things To Do In The Evening Instead Of Watching TV.
- 🗓 If you are still not doing your weekly reviews (👈download my template) which I consider one of my most important habits, even more important than waking up early, then this article by Tim Urban might convince you: Your Life in Weeks. Loved this question: "Are you making the most of your weeks?".
- 💬 Here is a favorite quote that Jon Acuff shared, that serves as a great reminder to track our good habits and regularly reflect on our journey: “Progress is found not received.” That's what happens every time my goals group and I do a monthly review (downloadable gift below), we always realize we have accomplished so much that we would have missed otherwise.
- 🤔 I am going to make sure my husband reads this before our next date night: Action creates information.
- 🦸♂️ How to change your self-limiting beliefs. Dedicate 15 minutes to reading this brilliant article to learn more about finding and overcoming your limiting beliefs. Favorite parts in the article: (Beliefs that hold you back can be like people who hold you back. Once they're gone from your life, new perspectives open up). (Just for fun, ask yourself how the choices you make might be different if your fundamental beliefs were different). Studying limiting beliefs is a crucial topic in my goal-setting workshops, and I encourage you to question yours.
- ✨ From my desk: Why should you choose a word of the year? And my podcast episode about it. Here is a list of words for inspiration.
- ✍ Visit https://www.futureme.org/ to write a letter to your Future Self. Schedule the letter to return to you at specific time frames. My sister used to do this when she was pregnant. I wonder if she still writes those letters. This exercise helps us connect to our future selves, which is key to achieving goals.
