Hello!
I hope you are having a great weekend. My heart goes out to my friends in the Southeast grappling with the devastation of Helene and I'm praying all those who are suffering. One of my best friend's sons traveled to NC to help a friend and has stayed all week helping as many people as he can. He says it's just unimaginable what these people are going through but heartening to see how fellow citizens and neighbors – and complete strangers are coming together to help others.
In brighter news, I took a roadtrip up to Maine this week with some good friends who were going to pick up their (two!) new puppies. (See below for a huge dose of cuteness…they're mini golden doodles and even more adorable in person).
I went along on the trip because one of Mary's lifelong best friends lives up there, so this was the perfect opportunity to visit her and her two sons. Marian is 95 years old (her sister Jay is my God Mother and lives in Denver) -- and BOTH are hot tickets. Jay walks several miles daily, and Marian reads 3 books per WEEK…Impressive, right?
Both (like Mary) are examples of the value of staying active - both physically and mentally, as we age.
We had such a great time, talking for hours about everything imaginable. I know Mary was looking down with joy. ❤️
And speaking of the joy of a mother….my oldest son turned 26 on Friday, and my youngest drove to Chicago from Ohio so the 3 could be together to celebrate. That really filled this mom's heart.
They fought like crazy at times over the years, but have become best friends. Now the big question is – which one is going to take care of me in my old age??? 🤔
