  • Rombauer Wine Dinner is Thursday at 6 p.m. at J. Gilbert's, 1010 Capitol Ave. Menu of four courses and a welcome course, each paired with wine, including grilled halloumi
    paired with Romabauer Carneros Chardonnay, cider braised pork belly with gratin paired with Romabuer Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, coffee-rubbed flank steak

  • Slow Poke Cider Release Party is Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Glacial Till Cider House & Tasting Room, 1415 Silver St., Ashland, Neb. The limited-edition tangerine cider is a collaboration between Glacial Till and Nebraska Game and Parks, inspired by Nebraska’s state reptile, the Ornate Box Turtle. The free event include turtle trivia and meet & greet with Ornate Box Turtles. Must be 21+.
  • Spooky Spirits is Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. at Lauritzen Gardens, 100 Bancroft St., featuring themed cocktails, ghoulish garden games, wicked plants, and bone-chilling entertainment. Advance tickets are $20, $15 for garden members. Tickets will only be sold at the door if available ($25, $20 for garden members). Must be 21+.
  • Bailey's After Dark featuring Chef Josh Essay is Friday at Bailey's Breakfast & Lunch, 1259 S. 120th St. The Lebanese menu includes smoked chicken shawarma, muhamarra, fatoush, slow roasted lamb and knafeh. Call (402) 932-5577 to make reservations.
  • Seventh Annual Chili Crawl is Saturday (new date) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Midtown Crossing, 31st and Farnam. Samplers are $4 at participating restaurants.
  • Oktoberfest at The Warehouse, 1414 West Broadway, Council Bluffs, Iowa, is Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. featuring live Polka music, an authentic German menu, and German beers. Tickets are $40.
  • Upcoming Halloween Tea Parties at The Bubbly Tart, 3020 Leavenworth St., are Saturday from noon to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tea Parties are $60 per person.
  • Taps and Apps is Sunday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Scriptown Brewing Co., 3922 Farnam St. Try four courses of samplings featuring the flavors of Lazy Buffalo BBQ paired with Scriptown brews. Beer samples will be served in an 8-ounce Scriptown branded tumbler glass that attendees take home. Must be 21+.

  • Cellar 19 Wine & Deli, 928 Valley View Drive, Suite 19, Council Bluffs, Iowa, announced October drink specials, including The Mummy Martini, Vampire Hunter Sangria, Jack-o-Lantern, and The Witches Brew.
  • Barnato Speakeasy Halloween Pop-Up is now open inside Barnato Lounge, 225 N. 170th St. Hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 6 p.m. to close.
  • Vis Major Brewing Co., 3501 Center St., is getting its own Halloween pop-up. The Spook-Easy at Vis Major Boo-ery runs Oct. 25-30. There will be specialty drinks and eerie decor.
  • CLOSINGS: Three Kids Lobster announced their final day of business will be Oct. 26 at T&T: Trucks & Taps, Patio. Best Burger announced they're closing their brick and mortar location in the Highlander, 2112 N. 30th St. Their catering service and food trailer will continue. Caddy's Kitchen and Cocktails has announced they will close on Oct. 20, though they are keeping the lease at their location. If you cannot use a gift card from Caddy's by the 20th, it will be honored at Big Kel’s Pizza & Wings. The Churro Spot food truck announced Oct. 12 was their last day of operation.

  • Reuben Fest is Nov. 4-9 at Crescent Moon Ale House, 3578 Farnam St. Menu items will include the classic Reuben sandwich and Reuben egg rolls; more will be announced. Limited number of daily specials will be available. Release times will be at open at 11 a.m. on Mondays through Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday, and 6 p.m. for dinner service.
  • The Princesses of Sat-ra Temple No. 59, Daughters of the Nile are hosting Princess & Pirate Pancake Breakfast on Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon at Tangier Shrine Center, lower level of the building. Breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, milk, orange juice, coffee and water. There will be face painting, stickers, temporary tattoos and treasure chest. Costumes are encouraged.
