Last Thursday morning, I was scrolling TikTok while drinking coffee in the morning when I came across a post that inspired me. This girl is sitting in her bed wiping away tears after reading the response that ChatGPT gave her for what her perfect day would be like it everything she wanted to happen came true.
Seeing my journal sitting not too far away from me on the coffee table, I decided I'd give it a try. I strongly believe in the power of visualizing where exactly where you want to go. It's how I've made every monumental shift in my life happen—by intentionally trying to picture it.
But (of course) I gave it my own twist because I don't just like dreaming about things, I want to know how to actually make it happen (Manifesting Generator reporting for duty!)
The results were so powerful and made me feel so instantly aligned, clear-headed, and focused that I had to share it with you today. It's the PERFECT Sunday afternoon activity!
Here it goes:
Prompt No. 1
“Hey ChatGPT, please write a dream day in my life based on the information I’m about to give you on what I want for my future in 10 years.”
From there, I listed 20 big dreams, but they weren't all “checkmark” accomplishments.
It's a blend of personal and professional, but also included how I want to feel (emotionally), how I want to view myself (self-esteem), and what's most important to me (values) because I wanted to see how the things I want it with the deeper desires I have for my life.
A few examples:
• I feel a deep sense of legacy, pride, and joy in my life. I feel spacious, inspired, and sophisticated. I feel worldly and interesting
• I have lots of interesting stories and love having interesting conversations with my family and friends
• We travel to a new place with our family 6 weeks out of the year exploring new places as a family every August-September
You could stop here, it's pretty fun to read and this is a great example of your ultimate vision of where you want to go, kind of like a mood board.
But let's take it a step further (this is where I put my spin on things!)
Prompt No. 2
"Ok now I want something a little more specific for 3 years out.
My business is (list out a few goals for what you want to accomplish in 3 years—think size of company, type of clients, how many hours you're working, company revenue, personal salary). I've prioritized these accomplishments because (tie it back to the ultimate vision and why other things will be possible when you've accomplished these goals first.) In this life, my work feels (list how you want to feel day-to-day, be very specific here.)
My life is (list out where you life, what your family looks like, your friendships.) I am most proud of (something in your daily life that brings you the most joy.) In this reality, I wake up feeling (how you want to feel each day.)
I want to know what a specific day-in-the-life looks like during a regular work week with these prompts. I want to know where I am and what I’m doing during my workday based on this information. I want to know what I’m wearing, who I’m with, what I see in front of me, what I smell, and how I feel.
Specifically, how is my workday structured? What do I do after work? What surprises and delights me during the day? What compliments do I receive and from whom?"
This is when the tears will start welling up behind your eyes because reading a romanticized version of the life you crave for yourself, with your specific details, will be like reading a book that feels as if it was written just for you (it was!)
Then follow up this perfect day-in-the-life 3 years out with these follow up reflection questions:
“If I knew it would be this good, what would I have done differently now? Who do I have to thank for helping me get here? Who helped me build my business to this point? Who's most important in my life? What is my favorite moment of this day? What else becomes possible towards my ultimate dream? What advice would I give to myself today based on this future version of me? What was the most powerful thing I did to get here, and what was the first meaningful step to make it happen?”
Ok, here's where it gets even better. I want you to do it again—this time for 1 year from today (no need to wait for January 1!)
Prompt No. 3
“Ok now write a similar day-in-the-life for one year from today. I'm living ____ with ______. I pay myself ______ and my company makes ________. I work __ hours a week and my tasks are mainly _____. My work feels like _______ because _______. I'm focused on _______ because _________. My life feels like _______ because _______ and I'm excited to _______.”
This one is so important because we often set too many unrelated goals each year and then wonder why we never get there. We also tend to chase things that other people want without seeing the real meaning it has in our own lives.
Reverse engineering where you want to go over the next 1-3 years based on your ultimate dream makes it easier to identify the things you want most based on, well, YOU.
Ok, one last prompt and this one is arguably the most powerful one.
Prompt No. 4
"Knowing this is where I’m heading, how can i romanticize and make the most of where I am right now? I'm current living ______ and struggling most with _______. Worrying about ________ keeps me up some nights. I often feel like if I could just figure out _______ everything else would be easier. My day-to-day looks like _______, and even though I'm not fully where I want to be, I really appreciate ______ in my day.
Is there a way to make my current circumstances align more with what I wish my life looked like, even if the circumstances are hard? How should I be spending my days right now to find progress towards where I want to go? What should I be doing in my business and where should I be spending my time? How many hours do I need to be working each week and what do I need to accomplish most?
Can you help me romanticize my life and business today and see a path forward to what I want most, while seeing today as a necessary and beautiful part of the path?"
Ok, don't say I didn't warn you. This exercise may leave you in tears. But it will also help you see whatever you're going through right now as beautiful, necessary, and monumental in your larger story unfolding.
No matter what you're going through today, I hope this brings you joy and inspiration. And I'd love to hear your stories! Hit reply and let me know your favorite parts :)
