2023 Southern Tier Biennial Best in Show winner Tammy Renée Brackett "Buck Up Buttercup" September 21st - October 26th 2024 in the Peg Bothner Gallery at TCAC!Tammy Renée Brackett creates work that poses epistemological questions regarding identity, categorization, and location. Her most recent work explores the complex relationships between humans and animals, particularly the white-tailed deer. Tammy Renée Brackett was selected as the 2023 Southern Tier Biennial Best of Show winner by jurors Andrea Alvarez, PhD is Associate Curator at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum (Formerly the Albright Knox Art Gallery), Judy Barie Fine Artist and Director of the Chautauqua Visual Arts Galleries in Chautauqua Institution, and Tullis Johnson, Curator and Manager of Exhibitions and Collections at the Burchfield Penney Art Center, in Buffalo. We have launched our "Fall into Art Raffle"! The raffle will be part of the upcoming annual "A Little Something..." Member small works show reception! It gives you a chance to win one of several cash prizes. Each ticket purchase gives you one entry. There is no limit to purchase quantity unless all 250 shares have been sold. Tickets are $40.00/each. If any one of your tickets is selected during the raffle drawing, you may be entitled to one cash amount below: 5 winners of $50.00 4 winners of $100.00 3 winners of $250.00 2 winners of $500.00 1 winner of $1,000 The drawing will be announced at the "A Little Something..." Member small work show opening reception on November 15th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm in the Peg Bothner Gallery at TCAC. You can purchase tickets in-store or online! If you purchase online and would like a physical copy of your ticket you can pick them at TCAC anytime during business hours, however, this is not necessary as you will be entered into the drawing pool either way. For the month of October, we’re hosting a membership drive with a chance to win a two upcoming Buffalo Sabres Tickets in section 121! The winner will have a choice of select games between November and February. The drawing will take place on October 31th. In 2023, TCAC had over 7,000 participants in our studios and classes. We’re also working on revitalizing Art in the Park with JCC and launching a new annual Art and Craft Markets in Ellicottville. Encaustic Work with a hot wax medium, is the perfect vehicle to transform bits of ephemera into a personal work of art. Learn techniques to use this translucent wax medium with paper scraps and other lightweight materials. Participants may bring their own small copies of photos, poems, quotes printed on lightweight paper but there will also be a variety of papers available for your use. You will be working on an 8×8 wood block. Consider copies of letters, scraps of wallpaper, feathers, non-synthetic fabric, pressed and dried leaves or flowers or other small, lightweight materials.
