  • Pouring With Purpose Happy Hour and Raffle for Women’s Fund of Omaha is Wednesday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Mercury, 329 S. 16th St. Enjoy complimentary snacks, drinks for purchase and the chance to win raffle prizes. All ages welcome to the Happy Hour, but must be 21+ to enter the raffle.
  • Dario’s Brasserie Pop-Up Dinner will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Avoli Osteria, 5013 Underwood Ave. Reservations are encouraged.
  • Metz Beer 160th Anniversary and Czech Dinner is Friday from 5 to 11 p.m. at Infusion Brewing Co., 6271 S. 118th St. The night includes a ceremonial keg tapping of the Metz Beer Barrel at 5:45; a traditional Czech dinner of Roast Pork, Bread Dumplings, Sweet and Sour Cabbage and Rye bread catered by our friends at Eddies Catering; homemade kolaches from Sixth Street Kolaches; and live music by the Barry Boyce Band. Meals are $20 with your first beer/soft drink included.
  • Sand Point, 655 N. 114th St. will have a special brunch with The Modern Waffle on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. 
  • Fifth Annual Chili Cook-Off is Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at Fourth Street Legion-Bar & Grill, 716 S. Fourth St., Council Bluffs, Iowa. Eating and judging begins at 5. You can sample all chili entries for $10.
  • National German-American Friendship Day and the Annual Grape Harvest Dance will be celebrated on Saturday at the German-American Society, 3717 S. 120th St. Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner starts at 6:15. Choice of duck or pork loin. Reservations by Oct. 25. Cost for the meal is $38 for members, $42 for guests, and $12 for kids (age 12 and younger). Dancing only is $12 for members and $15 for guests.
  • Heirloom Fine Foods’ Chef's Table Dinner is Saturday and Nov. 16 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Millwork Commons, 1229 Millwork Ave. Each adult ticket is $200 and includes a four course dinner with cocktail and wine pairings. The dinner is limited to 8 guests.
  • Monthly Beer Corner Sunday Brunch Buffet is Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Crescent Moon Ale House, 3578 Farnam St. Cost is $17.99 per person, $9.99 for kids (age 3-10), and free for kids ages 2 and under.
  • The Eastern Nebraska Chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse's Chili Cook Off is Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at Bogies West, 14334 U St. $10 for unlimited tasting.
  • Daphne’s Kitchen will serve an African cuisine buffet at The Fireside Banquet Room, 841 Tara Plaza, Papillion, Neb., on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m.

  • Kids in the Hy-Vee Kitchen classes are Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. and Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. at Hy-Vee, 11650 S. 73rd St., Papillion, Neb. Class is recommended for kids ages 4-8 years old and a parent is required to stay during the class. Kids will help make the following recipes: Autumn Snack Mix, Easy Roasted Baby Carrots, Cinnamon Apple Smoothie, and Peanut Butter Granola Pinwheels. Cost is $12 per child.
  • Upcoming cooking classes at Savory Spice, 10919 Elm St.: Hungarian goulash, spaetzles, and sauerkraut on Nov. 7 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.; and Beef with mushroom in wine gravy, spaetzles and red cabbage on Nov. 12 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Classes are $31. Call (402) 505-4396 for reservations.

  • Zio's Pizzeria has pumpkin-shaped pizzas available through Halloween. A two-topping pumpkin-shaped pizza is $12.99.
  • PizzaWest is collecting birthday kit donations through Nov. 1 in memory of the owners' twin sons. Their goal is to make 800 kits, which consist of cake mix, frosting tubs, plates, napkins, birthday banners, balloons, and candles. Bring the party supply donations to either location, 12301 West Maple Road or 12040 McDermott Plaza, Suite 300, La Vista, Neb.
  • Myrtle & Cypress Coffeehouse, 517 N. 33 St., is offering 25% their collaboration coffee blend, One Means All. Use code UNIONXMYRTLE at checkout. Offer good through Nov. 30; valid instore and online.
  • Dante, 16901 Wright Plaza, Suite 173, announced they will be launching their own wine in partnership with La Raia. It will soon be available at the restaurant as well as local wine stores.
  • Proof 192 Whiskey Bar & Craft Cocktails, 18940 Evans St. and 200 S. 31st Ave., Suite 4102, announced its Fall Menu Martini Flight, featuring Cafe Espresso, House Espresso, S’mores Espresso, and Pumpkin Espresso martinis.
  • Timbers, located inside the Lied Lodge in Nebraska City, was named the best steakhouse in Nebraska, according to Taste of Home.
  • 402 eat + drink, 17305 Davenport St., Suite 115, announced its limited-time fall cocktail menu, which includes Boozy Butterbeer and Tiramisu White Russian.
  • CLOSINGS: The Terrace, 4201 River's Edge Parkway, Suite 100, Council Bluffs, Iowa, announced they will close permanently on Nov. 1. Pulled BBQ announced they were closing the restaurant on Oct. 15, and returning to their roots as a foot truck. 415 Bar & Grill, 415 S. Main St., Fremont, Neb., announced their last day of operation was Oct. 26, though their food truck will still be available.

  • Reuben Fest is Nov. 4-9 at Crescent Moon Ale House, 3578 Farnam St. Menu items will include the classic Reuben sandwich and Reuben egg rolls; more will be announced. Limited number of daily specials will be available. Release times will be at open at 11 a.m. on Mondays through Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday, and 6 p.m. for dinner service.
  • The four-course Prisoner Wine Dinner is Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. at J. Gilbert’s Wood-Fired Steaks & Seafood, 1010 Capitol Ave. Cost is $120 and includes pairings with each course. For reservations, call (531) 222-9218.
  • The Princesses of Sat-ra Temple No. 59, Daughters of the Nile are hosting Princess & Pirate Pancake Breakfast on Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon at Tangier Shrine Center, lower level of the building. Breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, milk, orange juice, coffee and water. There will be face painting, stickers, temporary tattoos and treasure chest. Costumes are encouraged. There will also be a free-will bake sale table. Donation of $10 per adult and $5 for kids age 10 & under.
  • The Blackstone District's Chili Cook Off is Nov. 9 from noon to 3 p.m. at Kamp, 3618 Farnam St. Sample chili from various competitors and vote for your favorite. Cost is $5.
  • Third Annual Harvest Dinner is Nov. 9 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Heirloom Fine Foods, 325 N. 72nd St., Suite 200. Price is $80 for dinner with option of chicken schnitzel or pork chops (vegan option is also available); wine, beer, and cocktails will be available for purchase. 
  • Unlimited Wine Tasting: Holiday Edition is Nov. 10 from noon to 3 p.m., in an open house-style event at Dante,16901 Wright Plaza, Suite 173. Tickets are $25, and include unlimited tastings of a curated selection of wines—think sparkling wines, Thanksgiving tables, holiday gifts, festive parties, and Christmas Day pairings. Margherita pizza will be served to complement the tastings.
  • Mrs. Roper Romp Pub Crawl is Nov. 15 starting at 6 p.m. (location TBA). Come dressed as Mrs. Roper (or Mr. Roper, Larry, Jack Tripper, or Chrissy). Drink specials will be available at each bar. 
  • Holiday Food Sampling at Hy-Vee, 17810 Welch Plaza, is Nov. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m.

  • Thanksgiving-themed High Tea is Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. at the Schimmel Ballroom at Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel, 302 S. 36th St. featuring seasonal teas and treats. Cost is $65, plus any add-ons.
