What does the holiday season mean for you? For many, it is a time of joy and celebration. For the families Britepaths serves, it can mean making heartbreaking choices.
With 1 in 12 Northern Virginia residents facing food insecurityand35% of Fairfax County households with children affected, the holiday season can bring increased stress and difficult decisions. As children who rely on free and reduced-price meals at school prepare for long winter breaks, the threat of food insecurity becomes all too real. This year, our Holiday Program is dedicated to brightening the season for hundreds of local children and their families. Your contribution can make a significant difference! For just $50 you can help ensure that these children experience a joyful holiday season.
Last month, Britepaths hosted a free financial empowerment workshop for young adults enrolled in CLIMB, a Fairfax County youth employment readiness program. Led by volunteers from ReFrame Wealth, the workshop covered budgeting, investing, and credit scores. Participants engaged in “The Fab Life,” a simulation game that taught them to navigate real-life financial scenarios. CLIMB provides these young adults with help in their career pathways and a $14 hourly wage for the six-week program. Together we are empowering the next generation for financial success!
The inaugural Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board Connections Conference highlighted Britepaths' Financial Empowerment programs and the impact of our dedicated financial empowerment volunteers. Martha Borowski, our Financial Empowerment Program Manager, joined a panel alongside Jon Dauphine, CEO of the Foundation for Financial Planning, and Jessie Doll, CFP and founding member of ReFrame Wealth. They discussed how CFP professionals can provide pro bono financial advice to empower community members and showcased the outstanding contributions of our volunteers in promoting financial literacy and providing support.
Senior Director of Operations Dawn Sykes represented Britepaths at JP Morgan's Force for Good Design Showcase in New York. The Showcase spotlighted their 14-week pro bono service program, where a dedicated team redesigned our Financial Empowerment Center's website. The new design focuses on user-friendly navigation and modern aesthetics, ensuring that we can better serve our community. This partnership also represents a significant step forward in enhancing the accessibility of our online resources. Stay tuned for updates about the launch of the new website!

Support Britepaths through Workplace Giving
As the year draws to a close, federal employees and retirees can participate in the 2024 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) to make a difference through the Give Happy campaign. By selecting Britepaths, federal workers can directly impact by empowering families in need in our community with financial literacy, career training, and food security. Select Britepaths as your charity of choice in the CFC portal and help us continue our mission of building resilience and independence in Fairfax County and beyond.
Similarly, organizations in the National Capital Area can support Britepaths through the United Way NCA's workplace campaign. Employees of companies participating in the United Way NCA's campaign can choose to make payroll contributions or volunteer, amplifying our impact and helping us deliver critical services.
Join us in making a meaningful impact this season!
