A Life Rewritten by God~
As an author, I know a thing or two about rewrites. Draft 1. Draft 2. Draft 3. Next, I
submit my work and words to an editor. It returns with "notes," typically in bright red (digital) ink. Th editor's job is to improve your words and your creation. I've learned that the editor knows best, most of the time. American playwright, screenwriter, and film director, Aaron Sorkin, adapted the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel To Kill a
Mockingbird for the Broadway stage. He famously tells the story of completing his play
only to decide that it was not what he wanted. The voice and the point of view were
wrong. He said it was, basically, a retelling of Harper Lee's version. Sorkin scrapped it and began again. I was fortunate enough to see Sorkin's rewritten play on Broadway with the original cast just weeks after opening night. It was nothing short of spectacular.
A new creation started from scratch is not an improved version of its former self. It is entirely new, while its original essence remains. I believe we are all created in the image of God. He has given us various gifts, talents, and understanding in certain spheres of our lives for His purpose. It is in our nature to take His gifts and try to use them to our ends.
