I call Durango, Colorado, my home, where I am deeply committed to social justice, equity, and supporting our rural immigrant community on the Western Slope. Since joining the FSWCF Board of Directors in 2022, I have dedicated myself to advancing meaningful change in our community.
I was born in Guanajuato, Mexico, and my personal experiences with social issues—such as food insecurity, inadequate housing, and limited access to education—have fueled my passion for local activism. I believe that the most effective solutions to address the social barriers we face begin at home.
Currently, I work with the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition. Additionally, I serve as the Chair of the Board for ACLU Colorado and am a member of the La Plata Food Equity Coalition. These roles allow me to advocate for everyone’s rights while addressing the social determinants of health that contribute to disparities in communities of color.
