The Grateful Dads... 

Playing outside in the glorious sunshine, surrounded by kids and parents in spooky outfits is a blast! 

 

As part of Little Nicho’s annual Hallowe’en fundraiser, The Dads delivered a terrifying set, including: ‘Are you Gonna Be My Ghoul’, ‘Must Hang Sally’ and every witch’s fave, ‘Love Cats’.

ABOUT THE GRATEFUL DADS

It’s not all sex’n’drugs’n’rock’n’roll for us. A couple of gigs back, James got a flat tyre. 

 

Luckily for him, Mark knew what to do. Unluckily for Mark, he had to do it. Here he is thoroughly enjoying himself, while the rest of us went for a well-earned beer.

 

BAND MEMBERS AND THEIR INSTRUMENTS

We also put in a marathon, non-stop two-and-a-half-hour private set for Father John Therry School’s annual bash in Balmain Town Hall. Those parents know how to party! The theme was ‘Greek or Geek’. 

 

We don’t know any Greek songs, but Simon managed to slip in ‘Is there any feta’ as the first line to our version of U2’s ‘One’.

Building upon the success of James’ awesome trombone work, we’ve added a new tune to the set, featuring James on the ’bone, Jack on trumpet, Mark on bass and Simon on harmonica. (Rheece is still bashing away on the drums.) 

 

Get down to the Cat’n’Fiddle on Melbourne Cup Day (from 4pm) for its live debut.
