Dear neighbors,

Election Day is tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 5! There are more than 320,000 registered voters who have not cast a ballot for this election, according to the Davidson County Election Commission. If you are a registered voter and haven't cast your ballot, please go vote tomorrow.

Election Day Reminders
  • The polls are open 7:00 am – 7:00 pm on Election Day.
  • Review your personal sample ballot at Nashville.gov/vote
  • You MUST vote at your assigned precinct – check Nashville.gov/vote
  • Bring a photo ID issued by the federal or TN state government
  • Do not wear campaign apparel with candidate names, slogans
  • Use the stir stick provided for ballot marking accuracy
  • Tap on the candidate’s name NOT the tiny box in the corner
  • If you see an error on your printed ballot, DO NOT SCAN - ask for a do-over
Time Off to Vote
  • Under state law found at T.C.A. § 2-1-106, any person who is entitled to vote in an election held in Tennessee is entitled to take a reasonable amount of time off from work, up to three (3) hours, in order to vote during the time the polls are open in the county where the employee is a resident.
  • The employer may specify the hours during which the employee may be absent, and the employee is required to apply for voting leave to the employer before noon of the day before the election.
  • The state law further provides that the employee cannot be penalized or suffer a reduction in pay due to the absence.
  • There is an exception to this requirement—if the employee’s work period begins three or more hours after the opening of the polls or ends three or more hours before the closing of the polls, then the employer is not required to allow any time off from work.

  • WeGo buses are FREE for election day
  • Uber is taking 50% off rides to polling locations (up to $10) - click the “go vote” button

Why I Voted 'Yes" on the Transit Referendum
I cast my vote in favor of transit. Why? Because Nashville urgently needs dedicated funding for transit infrastructure, and we're already late in making this happen. A small increase—just half a cent in sales tax—will make a huge difference. It does bring our sales tax in line with the counties neighboring us, and allows Nashville to bring our tax dollars back to Nashville through federal funds.

In District 24 alone, voting “yes” on the transit referendum would mean:
  • Smart traffic signals updated at 29 intersections in District 24
  • Bus improvement for 5 routes through District 24
  • New Transit Center in the White Bridge Pike area (location TBD after community input):
    • Bus operations to adjust when center comes online
    • Connects to Charlotte All-Access Corridor and West End Service
  • Two new Park and Ride Facilities:
    • White Bridge Pike area Park and Ride Facility (location TBD); connects to Charlotte All-Access Corridor and West End Service
    • St. Thomas Hospital area Park and Ride Facility (location TBD); connects to West End Service
    • TBD = All locations to be determined with community input.
  • New sidewalks immediately for
    • Harding Pike from Ridgefield Way to Cherokee Rd
    • Neartop Dr from Vine Ridge Dr to White Bridge Pike
    • and fulfilling the sidewalk plan in link below.
