Dear Wakeful One,
Welcome to the first day of our 9-Day Pluto Vigil.
Today is 11/11 and I have been thinking about the convergence of a day I associate with magic and synchronicity and the gravity and density that is Pluto.
In Astrology for Yourself by Douglas Bloch and Demetra George, the key phrase for Pluto is “I renew.”
Here are a few sentences from the book to help us understand Pluto.
“Pluto penetrates to the core of an object and permanently transforms it. Metaphors for this process include the metamorphosis of a caterpillar to a butterfly, the death and resurrection of Christ, and the alchemical transmutation of lead into gold.
From the above examples, we can see that the Plutonian process is irreversible… In penetrating nature’s innermost secrets, Pluto uncovers her creative and destructive forces. Thus depending on [one’s] level of evolution, the Plutonian individual may become the black magician or the spiritual healer, the dictator or the religious saint.”
Pluto was first discovered in 1930 while it was in the sign of Cancer - the sign that symbolizes our basic security needs. Since Pluto Cancer is opposite Capricorn, Pluto is completing its opposition to its origin point in our collective psyche. As a collective, are we wrapping up a deep confrontation with the fear of fear itself?
Imaginal Cells
Within the metaphors above, the one that most resonates with me is that of the caterpillar. To become a butterfly, a caterpillar essentially digests itself. As its system begins to fail, certain parts of the caterpillar called imaginal cells start to awaken, remembering the future of the butterfly held within them. Seen as intruders by the caterpillar cells, these imaginal cells are at first attacked. But as they gather, their vision of transformation begins to be supported by those who once attacked them.
I believe that many of us tuned into this vigil hold the spirit of the imaginal cell, and that when we gather together, even asynchronously, something of a subtle but seismic nature shifts.
As we open our 9-day vigil, I invite you to honor the courage it takes to be open to irreversible change. And while this may feel intimidating, in some ways we have been in a process of irreversible change since we were born.
THE ALTAR
Today’s suggested practice is to create the simplest of altars.
To me, an altar is a place to focus our energy and intention, and a personalized portal from the ethereal to the material.
Creating Your Altar
Here is what I suggest for your altar, though you can add anything you like.
Candles - Either 1 single candle or four to represent 11/11 and the stabilizing energy of 4.
A small vessel of spring water.
Something that represents power.
Optionally, you can add -
elements that represent something you wish to transform,
something you wish to support you,
something to represent the element of air, and the element of earth to have all four traditional elements on your altar space.
*If you believe in a fifth element like aether, you can add that, too.
This altar is a space to anchor your Pluto vigil throughout these nine days.
Activating Your Altar
Do this on your own or join us at 4 PM ET today for a 30-minute online activation. You will all receive the recording by the end of 11/11 if you'd like to work with it but can't join live.
To active your altar on your own:
Clean your altar space and arrange your elements.
Clear the energetic space around your altar by imagining it soaking in rainbow light, clearing it with herbal smoke or incense, or spraying rose water.
Take a few deep breaths and sit comfortably in front of your altar. Thank the land. Thank your body. Thank all of existence. Imagine being surrounded by warm golden light and ask that all the energies that are not needed at this time return to where they are loved and most useful in this universe.
Call in your guides and guardians or any benevolent energies to support you.
Light your candle(s) and focus your awareness in the center of your heart.
As you look into the flame, imagine your heart’s neurons and electromagnetic field being filled by a bright light. Imagine this light represents the deepest kind of power that lives within us, the power of Life. Imagine all of those you love all over the world and their hearts being filled with their own bright lights, each representing the power of life and transformation.
Imagine the center of your heart like a power plant generating the same life force that creates the life that flows in nature, through all sentient beings, and all of the cosmos.
Imagine this energy flowing anywhere in your body that needs regeneration, and then through your hands onto your altar, as we begin the process of setting our intentions for our 9-day vigil.
Focus on your heart, and let your intentions arise while considering the transformative journey our collective Capricorn structures and consciousness have experienced since 2008, and ask yourself, during your Pluto Vigil:
What is your intention for yourself?
What is your intention for the collective? What is your intention for the earth?
How about the cosmos and all of creation?
As you direct this force field onto your altar, imagine all of those gathered for the vigil joining forces to activate a gentler, more graceful landing for Pluto as it moves into Aquarius.
Ask that all the supportive energies surrounding you help you co-create your intention for the highest good of all. When you feel complete with your process, you may wish to add to your intention the phrase - ‘this or something better’ to let the divine know you are open to the highest good beyond your imagination, and that you trust a transformation that goes deeper than the illusion of control.
Imagine this powerful energy you have generated from your heart going down into the heart of the earth, and up into the heart of the cosmos.
As you feel complete with transmitting your heart energy up and down, begin the process of closing your activation space. Acknowledge that you intend for your altar to be continuously activated over these 9 days. Thank your guides, the energies that supported you, the earth, Pluto, and those who joined us for this activation. Release all of the energies that you called to support you back to where they are most at home.
You have now completed your activation.
