When you really want to achieve a hand-drawn look for your SVG designs, sometimes the best thing to do is, well, to draw it! I asked my niece to draw me some hearts that we scanned in to Illustrator with a basic printer scanner and then image traced. I used the smooth tool to even them out a little bit and added them to my Valentine's designs—Ellie was so proud :) |

One of the best parts is you don't have to be an artist, especially if you're designing art for kids files. Cute, simple, and hand-drawn is a popular look. Tips for a Great Image Trace: - Use a dark pen or marker on white paper to make your drawing stand out.
- Scan the drawing and import it into your design program. In the Image Trace menu, select “Black and White Logo” and increase the Threshold setting to capture more detail.
- Check the “Ignore White” box to remove the white background from the drawing.
- Expand the tracing and use the Smooth Tool to make adjustments for a polished look.
