Pass the Salt
Hi First name / there

Welcome to the last in our series of best Fall tastes! This week, we turn to salt, or Lavana Rasa, and its therapeutic benefits.

In Ayurvedic medicine, salt is more than just a seasoning – it's a vital taste that influences our wellbeing. Composed of water and fire elements, salt plays a crucial role in maintaining overall balance. Its benefits include:
  • Enhancing digestion and nutrient absorption
  • Maintaining electrolyte balance & hydration
  • Improving taste perception
  • Pacifying vata dosha
  • Supporting proper nerve function
While essential, salt should be used in moderation. Excess salt can aggravate pitta and kapha doshas, leading to water retention and blood pressure irregularities.

We recommend sourcing natural, high quality options such as a pink or white Himalayan mineral salt or sea salt, which retain higher mineral and essential nutrient content over highly-processed counterparts.

Remember: The art of Ayurvedic eating lies in balance – salt is just one note in the symphony of six tastes that create harmony in our bodies. Want to learn more about the six tastes in Ayurveda?  Check out our Six-Tastes article below or reach out - we'd love to connect!

Until next week,
