Dear Neighbors,
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in the recent referendum vote. With 65% of Nashvillians approving the Choose How You Move program, we are taking a significant step forward in transforming our city’s transportation infrastructure.
Mayor Freddie O'Connell wasted no time in launching this initiative, announcing the first three steps toward implementing the program. The O'Connell Administration is committed to ensuring that community voices continue to guide this historic $3.1 billion investment in Nashville’s future.
Here’s what’s coming next:
1.
A New Chief Program Officer – To oversee this large-scale program, a Chief Program Officer position has been created and posted on the
Metro Human Resources website. This leader will coordinate with departments and partners to keep the program on track.
2. Community and Council Engagement – An advisory committee will be formed, including both new members and those from the original Technical and Citizens Advisory Committees. The Mayor’s Office will also collaborate closely with Metro Council to provide quarterly updates, ensuring full transparency in budgeting and planning.
3. Vendor Info Sessions – Metro’s Department of Finance will hold information sessions for businesses interested in partnering on the Choose How You Move projects. With $3.1 billion in planned improvements, there will be many opportunities for local talent and expertise to get involved.
Mayor O’Connell put it well: "We’re moving from talking and planning to doing." This is a pivotal moment for our community, and your support has made it possible. Together, let’s build a Nashville that works for everyone.
Thank you again for your trust and involvement.
In service,
Brenda Gadd
Councilmember, District 24
