The results of this year's election have heightened the challenges faced by Doctors for America (DFA), threatening patient health, access to affordable care, and health equity. Now more than ever, DFA is committed to standing with you to protect our patients and communities—but we can’t do it alone. Empowering physicians and medical trainees with advocacy skills, and creating opportunities to use these skills at both state and federal levels, remains a top priority. Together, we will continue the fight to ensure healthcare access for all Americans! Join us in our fight to protect the future of healthcare – every contribution makes a difference. The next four years require this work more than ever, Doctors for America will be ready from day one, here for our advocates every step of the way. You can count on it. We will continue to fight for equitable, affordable, and high-quality health care in every forum possible - be it in the clinics and hospitals, or Congress and the courts, or local governments and federal agencies. Our core values of putting patients over profits, profession, and politics will continue to be our North Star in these efforts. But we need you with us, too. Together, let’s stand strong for our patients and healthcare justice. In solidarity, Doctors for America’s Board of Directors |

Join Doctors for America on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 8 pm ET for an in-depth exploration of the legislative, social, and medical dimensions surrounding marijuana decriminalization. Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the significant legislative barriers that hinder national progress toward decriminalization, including the political, legal, and institutional challenges that make this change difficult to achieve. We will also explore the broader implications of criminalizing marijuana, focusing on the disparities in enforcement, particularly how laws disproportionately affect marginalized communities, and the lasting impact on public health and social justice. |

DRUG PRICE PROFITEERING HARMS PATIENTS AND INDEPENDENT DRUG STORES The three largest pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) -CVS Health, Express Scripts, and Optum Rx – are wholly owned subsidiaries of large entities, insurers and drug stores. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that they pay their own pharmacies far more than independent drugstores for the same medications. One study, paid for by a pharmacy association, found that the markup that P.B.M.s were charging on brand-name drugs was 35 times higher when the drugs were sold through their own mail-order pharmacies than when the drugs were sold by independent drugstores Government studies have identified a similar phenomenon. This grossly unfair practice is causing small pharmacies, especially in small towns, to go out of business. |
