Hi Friends,

I hope you’re doing well.

This week has been such a whirlwind with all the ups and downs of the election. Like many of us, I found myself diving into work just to stay grounded.

Then, out of the blue, one of my kids brought home a little drawing of the American flag, and I couldn’t help it…

I started crying 😢.

It reminded me of the hope we all hold onto, that no matter where we stood this season, we can still come together with compassion.

I hope you’re taking extra good care of yourself through all of this. Let’s remember to be kind to ourselves and each other ❤️.

Love,

Emily

Alexis Mercedes Rinck Elected to Seattle City Council, Pledges Progressive Change and Community-Centered Solutions

Alexis Mercedes Rinck has been elected to the Seattle City Council, representing the citywide District 8 seat with 58% of the vote. A progressive Democrat, Rinck will join Councilmember Tammy Morales, bringing fresh progressive perspectives to a council that recently welcomed five new members.

Rinck’s background with the King County Regional Homelessness Authority aligns with her policy goals, which include implementing progressive tax strategies, such as a local capital gains tax and a high payroll tax, to fund critical city programs. She also aims to expand community-based public safety initiatives like the Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) program and the Community Assisted Response and Engagement (CARE) team, which addresses public safety with behavioral health expertise.

Rinck, who bested incumbent Tanya Woo, expressed her dedication to the city, calling Seattle "a beacon of what is possible" and vowing to serve with "love, courage, and unity."
