Lately, as I've been watching Expedition Unknown with Josh Gates, I've been fascinated by the lengths people go to uncover secrets of the past. Whether they're diving into ancient waters for lost treasures or trekking mountains to find long-lost planes, there's magic in the dedication—and the thrill—of each adventure. They're nudging the world, asking it to reveal a little more of itself.
But let's be honest: only some of our adventures are as epic. Sometimes, the real treasure is that hidden café around the corner or the bloom of a new flower you didn't even plant. Life's tiny surprises, like an unexpected bird gracing the sky, can be as awe-inspiring as any far-off destination. These small discoveries fill us with a sense of appreciation and contentment.
Then there are the other moments—the curveballs, the "OMG, can I get off this rollercoaster?" days. You know what I'm talking about—the times you just need to remember to breathe (and maybe hide under a cozy blanket). Yet, what happens after those wild moments shapes our peace of mind and gratitude.
That's precisely why I wrote my third book, Soul Detective. After some severe life plot twists, I didn't just learn to breathe; I committed to deep, steady breaths. I got curious about my thoughts, like a detective on a stakeout, watching my inner dialogue and even the words I spoke. I had to laugh a little (okay, a lot) when I realized how often I repeated those thoughts like a scratched record. Remember records? (If you don't, imagine a song stuck on the same line forever. Yep, that was me—mentally grooving to outdated tunes.)
So here's my invitation to you: Is there a pattern you'd love to "scratch off"? Imagine how freeing it could be to give those worn-out habits a gentle goodbye, to rewrite your own soundtrack with a tune that actually makes you feel good. Change is one of life's wildest adventures, after all! You don't need a plane ticket or an old treasure map, just a curiosity to start somewhere new.
If the idea of self-discovery feels like a steep mountain, know that Soul Detective is here to walk with you like a friendly guide. I'll also host some community training in 2025 (or sooner) for those who want to share their stories and enjoy the journey together.
So, what's your story? Do you have a treasure map you're following? What are the 'OMG, can I get off this rollercoaster?' moments in your life? I'd love to hear it—and maybe even explore it with you!
