Washington State Attorney General and Governor-elect Bob Ferguson, alongside Attorney General-elect Nick Brown, outline their preparations to push back against potential federal overreach under a possible second Trump administration.
They emphasize protecting abortion rights, environmental standards, and immigrant protections, with Ferguson’s team actively reviewing Project 2025, a conservative policy agenda he describes as an “assault” on state priorities.
Ferguson, who led nearly 100 successful lawsuits against Trump’s first term, warns of new challenges posed by a more organized White House and a conservative Supreme Court. Both leaders stress that legal actions will only move forward if backed by strong cases.
“We’re ready, but I hope it’s not needed,” Ferguson says.
