Pluto Vigil: A Universal Altar
DAY 04
Day 04 - Plutonic Reading and Journaling as Energy Work
with Xenia Viray

About Pluto Vigil: Each day you can expect a new Pluto offering in your inbox. Tune into what resonates with you, and engage in a way that serves who you are.
*If all you have the bandwidth to do each day is set the intention that Pluto passes through with grace and in a way that is for the highest good of all beings, then do that. Our attention and intention as a collective matter.

Watchers of Pluto,

There are now over 600 of us watching Vigil over Pluto as it passes through the threshold from Capricorn to Aquarius. I imagine 600 candles on either side of a veiled Pluto sauntering in silence, weary but committed to their path.

On the grand spectrum, there are some of us who lean into perspectives that are stark, and those of us who tend to see through rainbow-colored lenses. It is my opinion that all of our perspectives are needed and have something to offer.

Because I am aware of my tendency to see from a lofty perspective, I wanted to offer some words to balance out my natural lens, words about the weight of Pluto that acknowledge the Plutonian energy and why we may approach Pluto with fear and trepidation at times.

Reading as an Attunement

Read this aloud or very slowly in silence. There is so much potency in this passage from The Astrology of Fate by Liz Greene.

“Often there is a great release of energy which accompanies the movements of Pluto: things which have lain long dormant or died early in life are resuscitated and burst forth. Often it is the passions that form this eruption, and such a release of life can be immensely creative. But this kind of experience, although in hindsight perceives its value, is frequently painful, frustrating, confusing, disorienting, and frightening, and rarely passes without some kind of sacrifice or loss, willing or unwilling, or some kind of confrontation with what is most brutal and ‘unfair’ in life.

Even the stout-hearted Scorpionic types, who are ruled by Pluto and therefore have some innate inkling of the goddess Necessity and the inevitability of endings and beginnings built upon the corpses of dismembered pasts, are not immune to the natural ego fear of that which is overpowering and cannot be placated by will or
reason. Death and passion leave irrevocable changes in their wake, whether on a corporeal or a psychic level and what has died cannot be put back again.”

Questions for Journaling and Reflection:

Here are some questions to journal with after reading Liz Greene’s words about Pluto.

Before you get started, light the candle at your altar, and focus on the sensation of a power generator located at the center of your heart. Imagine that power streaming through your hands. Take a few deep breaths and tune into the following questions, beginning with revisiting the question we asked on Day 01 at the altar activation.
  1. What does power look like when it is being stewarded for the highest good of all?
  2. How can transformations be supported, honored, and co-created?
  3. How do I want the systems of care, both at home and in public, to be re-birthed?
  4. Considering Pluto's ability to clarify our relationship to control, ask yourself: where do we give away our power by assuming we have none?
  5. In what ways do we try to grasp forms of power that are fleeting, meant to be shared, or illusions of the mind?
  6. And lastly, but perhaps most importantly: What has been lost that you want to grieve, want to honor, want to name?

As your journal, imagine your molecules being transformed by the depth of your inquiry and your openness to change and revelation. Let these questions live inside your cells for the coming days and weeks.

Allowing Grief
If you are called, take a few moments today at your altar, at a body of water or near a beloved tree or stone, and make space for your grief as it relates to the last question in your journaling practice.

This my look like naming what has been lost and saying to yourself, “I honor you.” This may look like letting your tears flow or screaming into a pillow, or shaking your fists at the sky. Let your grief have space to express in the way it wants to, in the ways that feel accessible and that you can hold in this moment. Practice not judging or policing your grief.

Share what arises in you in this private Pluto Vigil slack channel, (join at this link, and post in this channel) or let these questions and answers be yours and yours alone.
