Who you gunna call….. LAWN ADDICTS!
the march of the army worm

Welcome First name / fellow lawn addict to another instalment of “The Fulcrum”.
It's a good idea to start thinking about insect problems for your lawn now, even though it's getting colder. Hopefully, you already put down a preventative insecticide like Acelepryn in early to mid-September. We will need to do another treatment in about a month.
Last year, we saw a lot of Army Worm activity everywhere, even in places we don't usually see it, Tasmania for one. We're big believers in preventing lawn problems before they happen. Sometimes, though, we have to use "curative" treatments this is when there are so many insects that the preventative stuff can't handle them all. This is what we call "pressure." That's where a fast-acting  knockdown insecticide comes in.
Think of preventative insecticides like insurance. They work in the background to help when problems pop up. But just like insurance, they only cover so much. A knockdown insecticide is like extra coverage. It takes care of anything the preventative stuff misses, whether it's a specific type of insect or just too many of them.
Most of the time (about 95% of the time), insect "pressure" just means too many insects. That's why knockdown insecticides are so effective. The preventative treatment has already taken care of most of the problem. The knockdown just finishes off the last bit that's causing the most damage, and helps the preventative treatment get back in control.
Some knockdown insecticides work on contact, meaning they kill bugs as soon as they touch them. This means you need to wear protective gear (PPE) when you use them. The specific gear will depend on the product, so always check the label and safety data sheet (SDS). A good general rule is to wear gloves, long pants, glasses, and closed-toe shoes to avoid getting the chemicals on your skin. A mask is also a good idea to keep the chemicals out of your lungs.

Its easy to see with a bit of TLC grass generally grows back pretty well.
the process here was, a light scarify, and clean up, impala fungicide to deal with the disease that popped up (and still is), Hydrolink Rapid, Kelpro, UMX, a low rate of 2spec MSR Refine. and then water.
