Pay attention to what's most important.

It's the end of the semester. I hope you had some time to truly relax this weekend. I hope you approach these final weeks with resolve and grace. You've worked really hard to get to this point. Pause for a moment and acknowledge your hard work.

I included one of my favorite graphics above, with a simple but profound invitation to notice. Observe. Pay attention. Bring awareness to.

A million things are competing for your attention. A quick glimpse at your to-do list causes your head to spin. You're probably anxious about final projects, papers, and exams. You're feeling pressure to do well.

Here's the thing: You will do well. You already have evidence that you can finish the semester strong because you're capable. You stay focused on your big goals, knowing that each class, each semester, is but one small part of the big journey.

So, you take things in stride and notice what needs your attention most. During these final weeks, pay close attention to what your body tells you. Take breaks. Find a place to study where it's easy to focus. Create a short to-do list and pick one thing at a time.

Manage your mind. When negative thoughts and worries crop up, take a breath, acknowledge how you're feeling, and then let that thought go with an exhale. Make it loud! Use your breath to expel stress and tension. Use your power to pick a new thought that will empower you to do your best.

I can do this. I am strong. I am capable. I am focused. I am steady.

There's no need to dwell on thoughts that bring us down. Thoughts are just thoughts. You can pick a new one. In this final stretch, pay attention to the things you're telling yourself and make sure you dictate the script.

Pay attention to what you need this week and next—one thing at a time. Ask for help. Give yourself rest. Drink water. Go for walks. Know we're rooting for you because you're amazeballs. Don't forget that!

Log in this week and declare your intention to stay focused on what's most important. Sharing your intention helps you make it true. ✨

Stay focused, Lynn
