I’m thrilled to announce that the 2024 Folded Poetry Holiday ornaments will be available for you to collect beginning this Saturday (Small Business Saturday)!
These are incredibly meaningful tokens which capture the spirit of innovation, resiliency, and collaboration which are at the heart of my brand.

I received an abundance of positive feedback on last year’s iridescent ornaments, so I’ve decided to make my ornaments a Holiday tradition and provide you the opportunity to build a variety collection of these mini architectural rainbow gems by collecting a new design created from iridescent acrylic every year!
(And quite honestly, they make great sun-catchers year round!)

THE BIG NEWS
Last year I sold 100 ornaments which were components of a public art project I showcased over the summer. This year I set my goal as selling 300 ornaments.
To my surprise and delight, I’ve already sold 342 of these ornaments in my pre-order phase alone! I’ve upped my total production quantity to accommodate demand and will offer 450 ornaments for sale this year. This means there are only 108 ornaments available for purchase beginning this Saturday at noon in my Etsy shop! If you’re planning to collect one of these babies, Saturday is your opportunity!

I took special care to create a unique geometric design earlier this fall. Above is a moment of play during my digital design process.
I prototyped the concept using paper first. Shown below, the four planes were originally triangles before I decided I liked the design expression better as trapezoids, and made that change for the final acrylic production.

My studio is currently overrun by an army of dazzling ornaments!

Part of the reason I named my studio Folded Poetry is because I’ve always imagined my practice growing to be bigger than myself. This year I’ve taken action on that dream and paired with local makers to cut, assemble, and package these special pieces. Marissa is shown below assembling the ornaments which were laser cut by local artists Bethany and Chris of BAN Artwork.

FYI, I’ll be emailing more about my ornament sale this season - if you’re not interested in receiving further emails related to this topic, please click “manage preferences” at the bottom of this email.
In other news, earlier this month I attended my first-ever trade show -- and it was a big one: Boutique Design New York! This show based in the heart of New York City attracts interior designers and tradespeople from all over the United States to visit vendor booths geared toward hospitality design (think: hotels, cruise ships, resorts, and high-end residential!)

I was able to purchase my own booth (shown above) with the support and sponsorship of Unika Vaev, with whom my recent acoustic product line launched, and ArtLifting, my closest art-industry relationship.
In case you missed it, you can learn more about this acoustic product line which I proudly featured in my booth by clicking the button below:

I was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm folks demonstrated toward the work I showcased. I walked away from the show with over 140 new industry contacts and some great memories. The weekend was a non-stop whirlwind and felt like it came and went in the snap of a finger.

I definitely plan to attend the show again next year. Special shout out to Unika Vaev for providing the product, shipping, booth grant, and the support of two members of their corporation for the duration of the show!
Below are a few of my favorite moments from the weekend.
