How to Choose What to Focus on Before the End of the Year?

Use Your Feelings:
  • What would be a relief to get over with before the end of the year?
  • What is something you don’t want to be talking about planning to do next year? Instead, you want to say it’s done!
Use Joy and Regret:
  • Joy: Yes! It would be great to get this done.
  • Regret: I would regret not getting this done now!
Use the Calendar:
  • Is there an event you want to be ready for?
  • Is there an externally imposed deadline that you need to meet?
If You Listed Several Answers, Let These Questions Help You Prioritize:
  • Is there a sense of urgency, time-sensitivity, or otherwise?
  • Did you promise to do it?
  • Are you expected to do it?
  • Is it required by your management?
  • What is at stake if you don’t get it done?
Tip: Replace "the end of the year" with the end of the week/month/quarter, your Birthday, Christmas, Ramadan, or trip. You get the picture.

Here is your weekly dose of The Sunday Spark ⚡️ a newsletter listing 3 sparks that I thought were worth starting your week with:

1. ️ 🎙️ It's goal setting season, so here is what to listen to from my podcast: the goal setting series (episodes 7-10) and the interview with Sima Najjar part 1 and part 2.

2. ❓ Sima mentioned  yesterday that this personality assessment I shared with her surprised her, and interestingly we have the same results. Try the Sparketype assessment (Sunday Spark was created before btw :)) share your results by replying to this email and I will share mine.
I love personality assessments because I believe they are guidelines to focus on our strengths and help us navigate some challenges. They are not labels as some people fear. I created a podcast episode about The Four Tendencies assessment which was very helpful in understanding my pursuit of some goals over others. My favorite one, however, is the Enneagram, but there is no official test for it (Try the classic option). You can find your type, however, by reading books like The Road Back to You.

3. 💬 How are you showing up?
“Showing up includes your intention, your energy, and your presence, which emanates from you everywhere you go.”
― Anese Cavanaugh, Contagious Culture

* Note: To the best of my ability, I am trying to share content by authors who have not disappointed me, and they are hard to come by! Please let me know if any author I share about was disrespectful to Palestine.

P.S.: Half of this Sunday Spark is a replay. It was one of those weeks! I am sending you during a sick leave due to sore throat while experiencing my first winter in 14 months. Go figure.
