STATS FROM THE TRAPS

This year, Alley Cat Project has rescued more cats than ever before, exceeding our end-of-year total from last year by 330 with a full month still to go!
This year alone:
546 cats have been placed into foster care, receiving the socialization and medical care they need to thrive.
409 cats have found their forever homes through adoption, giving them a fresh start in loving families.
71 cats have been returned to their original sites after being spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and provided other necessary care.
66 cats have been trapped, stabilized, and then transferred to partner organizations to continue their rescue journey.
92% of the cats we've helped this year have been brought indoors, significantly reducing the number of cats living outdoors under our care.

With more cats than ever entering our care, we want to highlight that Alley Cat Project is 100% volunteer-run and funded entirely by donations and campaigns like Giving Tuesday. Your support is invaluable and directly impacts each cat we serve. This Giving Tuesday, join us in growing our efforts, saving lives, and making a lasting impact for Seattle’s cats in need.

you're the cat-alyst
When a worker at a local junkyard contacted us about a feral mom cat and her three kittens, we knew we had to act fast. The family had taken refuge in a boat slated for scrap, surrounded by hazardous debris and broken glass. Construction workers were careful not to disturb the boat or the cats with their heavy machinery.

Trapper Rose set up a trail camera to monitor the situation. What she saw was heartbreaking—mama cat, a frail orange tabby, was skin and bones, struggling to care for her kittens. One kitten managed to escape the boat, but the others were trapped inside, unable to get out. All had lacerations on their bellies from broken glass.

In these dangerous conditions, it took multiple attempts to rescue all three kittens. The junk-filled boat had no steady, flat surface on which to place the traps, and the broken glass and other debris posed significant risks. But this was the only way to get the kittens to safety.

Once we had the kittens, we trapped mama cat and brought her to the clinic for spaying, vaccinations, and a microchip. Rose worked with the business to set up a feeding station and safe shelter for mama and the other adult feral cats in the area. We are actively working to trap the remaining adults and prevent future litters.

All three kittens were socialized in foster care and two have been adopted out, thanks to the kindness and support of donors like you.

This is just one example of the lengths to which we go in order to save lives – efforts that would not be possible without your support. Your donations make this work—and so much more—possible.

Thank you for being the cat-alyst for change.

Join us for Alley Cat Project's next in-person adoption event!

Available cats range in age, color, and personality; however there will mostly be pairs of kittens at this event.  Kittens thrive when they have a friend! Any available single kittens can only be adopted to homes that already have a young, friendly, and playful resident cat.

All our cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption. They will go home with you immediately after adoption, so please come prepared with a sturdy carrier to bring them home in.

Save time by pre-filling out our questionnaire
Please indicate that you plan to come to the event and what you are looking for in your response to "name of cat you are interested in."

We know you'll find the purrfect match for your family!
