Sunlight glistening on freshly fallen snow reminds me of dancing diamonds sparkling in the light.
Winter is not my favorite season, so I love to create beautiful visions like this in my mind to help me appreciate some of those wonders of nature. Here in Wisconsin, we prepare to spend our holidays in the blustery weather while some of my clients in more temperate climates love to decorate their palm trees with festive ornaments. I must admit I’m a bit envious!
It’s also holiday time where fine diamond and jewelry gift giving comes to the forefront. I love playing the little elf who helps make dreams come true when those presents are opened to reveal gorgeous diamonds and gems which bring smiles and joy to both the givers and receivers!
The gifting season has already kicked off and I am finding so many amazing jewelry designs for my clients…from diamond stud earrings, to diamond tennis bracelets and necklaces, to dangle and hoop earrings, to simple and elaborate ring designs, to couples getting engaged with unique diamond shapes and sizes in both lab created and natural mined diamonds. The selections are simply endless, and I have spent this past year sourcing from some of the most amazing designers to bring you so many options.
Please reach out to me soon so we can help make your visions come to life this Christmas season. You can call me or book a complimentary design discovery call and I’ll guide you in choosing something perfect for your loved one.

STORIES OF INTRIGUE
The Goldberg Way: The Legacy of William Goldberg
“A new book details how the man, the myth, and the legend, William Goldberg got his own stretch of Midtown Manhattan and his legacy.”
This book and story of the legendary and extraordinary New York diamond dealer is especially intriguing and interesting to me because I met William Goldberg when I visited his offices with my mentor Robert Haack early in my career as a Graduate Gemologist. Mr. Goldberg was a larger-than-life character who was an icon in the industry…well regarded as an expert and outstanding cutter and dealer in diamonds.
I remember as a young, naïve and inexperienced gemologist, William certainly was out to impress me by slipping a 50 Carat Fancy Cut Diamond set in a ring onto my finger. It was worth tens of millions of dollars way back when…and I was excited beyond belief! 50 Carats!!!
Robert Haack said he saw so much joy in William’s eyes and generosity in his spirit to give a young person embarking on a career as a gemologist and diamond buyer this rare opportunity to not only view and examine this beautiful gem…but wear it on my hand! No other diamond piece I have tried on ever since, has even compared.
He had also just completed cutting a 25 ct. D Flawless “Shield” cut diamond. It was loose…not set in a ring…so he had me hold out my palm and I was lucky enough to hold that too! What a day! It brings back some of the most extraordinary memories I have in my long tenure in this business of diamonds! Here’s a sneak peek of his life well documented in this new book!
“Natural diamond dealer William Goldberg’s impact on the industry is showcased in a new book, written by Only Natural Diamonds’ editor-at-large, Jill Newman and Jackie Caradonio. The William Goldberg Wayis more than a biography, it is a chronicle of how the natural diamond industry in New York grew from a village into a thriving hub of the jewelry community worldwide. At the center of this story is a pioneer, whose bravery and foresight allowed him to take calculated risks that set trends we still follow today.
Many of the most famous stones in the world passed through his office, cut to his exacting standards. Names that need no introduction, such as the Premier Rose, Moussaieff Red, and the aptly named Pumpkin Diamond. It is also the story of Ashoka, the 62-faceted diamond cut, created and trademarked by William Goldberg. Jill Newman, along with William Goldberg’s daughter Eve Goldberg, the company’s creative director, shared the backstory about what defines the company and the man.
“My father used to have these very successful jewelers come up to the office,” Eve Goldberg tells Only Natural Diamonds. “I remember one in particular—my father showed him a stone, and he took out a loupe to look at it. My father grabbed it from him and said, ‘You don’t need to look at it with a loupe. Just look at it. Isn’t it beautiful?’ He was all about beauty.
That was so important to him. It wasn’t what the certificates said. He couldn’t care less about a piece of paper,” she recalls. This tendency to start with the wonder of natural diamonds instead of the stats set him apart as an iconoclast and delineated the company’s ethos.”

KAT’S WISDOM CORNER: TIPS FOR A HEALTHY, WEALTHY & FUN LIFE!
Curiosity never killed this “Kat”!!
Have you ever heard the saying…”Curiosity killed the cat”? Cats are naturally curious animals. They can get into quite a variety of predicaments by just checking things out either around the house or when they’re out and about exploring outdoors.
I have always been naturally curious…for as long as I can remember. I just want to learn and explore and keep my mind active by discovering and doing new things. I have serious FOMO – Fear of Missing Out!! And there’s plenty of things to research and experience in this big wide world!
I’m especially intrigued when I hear or read something which is completely outside my normal thought process. I rarely dismiss any new thought or idea or information. My curious nature kicks in and I’d rather ask questions, start digging, and then either confirm my original beliefs or throw those out and go forward with a new understanding.
I’m always bewildered when people react the exact opposite way and have no desire to hear or learn something new. Their cognitive dissonance kicks in and they go blindly forward with a closed mind so as not to disturb their current thought process or way of doing things. Sometimes they even get angry when you challenge their reality by presenting an opposing view.
I have always been a “truth seeker”. Sometimes things I learn are not exactly pleasant– or quite horribly disturbing actually – but nonetheless, I don’t ever stop my quest to know the truth!
Another saying is “what I don’t know, can’t hurt me”. I say, “what I don’t know, keeps me in a state of ignorance”. So, keep informing me…keep educating me…keep challenging me…keep me on my toes. May I never accept the norm! May I find new exciting ways to live my life!
I hope I always operate with an open mind and heart. What is your philosophy? Open and curious - or - happy in your current state of never stepping outside your current reality. If that works for you then keep on that path.
But if you’re not afraid to be a “curious cat”, you may discover many new things! After all, we don’t know what we don’t know! Right? It’s my mission to keep learning for my entire lifetime and sharing my findings with others open to hearing new and interesting things.
P. S. Connect with me if you’ve got something to share with me. I’ll be we can have some really cool and deep discussions!
