December 2024
From the Executive Director
Resilience is the ability to thrive in the face of adversity. Whether you’re retired, an attending, resident, fellow, or medical student - as a part of your training and/or practice, you UNDERSTAND this concept. Doctors for America (DFA) is a safe place where you can find individuals, who like you, want to increase access to care and improve the overall healthcare system.

While the road ahead is filled with uncertainty, fear and many challenges, especially for those most marginalized and most vulnerable among us. DFA advocates have fought these battles before, and with your help, arm and arm, we will do it again!

“No matter how bleak or menacing a situation may appear, it does not entirely own us. It can’t take away our freedom to respond, our power to take action.”
― Ryder Carroll

Please join us Tuesday, December 10, at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT for an ALL DFA Advocate Call as we discuss A Path Forward: DFA Advocacy 2025. DFA Board President Christine Petrin, MD, MPH, and DFA Executive Director Angie Bakke, MBA, will discuss strategy to protect access to healthcare in the new Administration.

DFA is the LINE that protects patients from inexperienced and dishonest leaders, policies that hurt patients, and limitations on access to health care. There is POWER in the White Coat! Bring your questions, your frustration, and join us for A Path Forward: DFA Advocacy 2025.

In 1973, health care was drastically different. Women lacked autonomy over their reproductive health, millions faced barriers to accessing quality care, and the health care system left too many behind.

Fast forward to today, and we’re still grappling with some of the same challenges. But at Doctors for America, we know health care policy doesn’t have to follow the same cycles of inequity and inaction.

We’ve come too far to go backward.

With your help, we can continue to break the cycle of regressive policies and build a future where healthcare is a human right, not a privilege.
