Happy December, the final month of the year.
How has your year gone, career-wise and personally?

I've been looking through my 2024 tasks and I'm quite surprised that I've ticked off quite a few. Goal setting really does seem to work…

One thing I haven’t done, though, is creating/developing a new portfolio website. Other things took priority - like launching this newsletter!

DESIGN OF THE WEEK

Inside the Design of Spotify Wrapped 2024
 

Yep, it's that time of year again. We are faced with the embarrassing realisation that we listen to the same 3 music artists over and over, and that we might not be as cool as we once thought.

My top artist, to no surprise, was Taylor Swift (like half the users of Spotify it seems). 

What I always enjoy is the branding each year and how Spotify always mixes it up, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. (Looking at you, Spotify Wrapped 2021 typography).

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK

 

This really is not one to miss. I don't say that lightly.

Up to the Light, a UK strategy agency has released their annual and highly respected report on What Clients Think.

A report based on 675 client interviews conducted on behalf of creative agencies, this report really is huge. I'm still reading through it myself.

The report showcases clients' thought processes, how they work with design agencies, and why they make decisions they do. If you work in a design agency, run one, or want to in the future, this document is seriously a gold mine of information.

DESIGN ASSET OF THE WEEK

 

I came across this beautiful texture pack this week and I knew I had to share it with my newsletter friends.
32 high resolution images that look so good overlayed onto your photos or design work. Add some blending modes and just see the results you get.

You have to go through a check-out process to get this pack but it won't cost a thing. I saw the creator of the pack has a Behance page too with amazing other content, so take a look if you want to support their work.

EVENT OF THE WEEK

 

Exciting news: Next week, on the 12th of December, I am going to be live with Adobe on their YouTube channel.
I'll be showing a branding project process, from logo design, patterns and even some Firefly magic.

I'll be live in an actual studio with a design host, answering questions whilst I show my design process.
I've never done something like this before so it would be epic if some of you guys reading will be there hyping me up in the live chat.

I do not know the exact time I will be streaming yet but keep your eyes peeled on my Instagram as I will share details closer to the date.
