As we share exciting news today, we’re also mindful of the challenges many in our community are facing. The wildfires in Southern California have been a stark reminder of how fragile yet resilient our connections to home and each other are. To those impacted, our hearts are with you.
We are California Strong!
In this spirit of reflection and growth, we’re excited to share that after 19 amazing years under Paige’s leadership, Loczi Design is entering a new chapter.
Catrina and I are proud to share that as of January 1, 2025, we’ve completed the purchase of Loczi Design and are stepping into our expanded roles as partners and co-owners. We’re thrilled to continue building on everything this incredible firm stands for while honoring the vision that has guided Loczi Design for nearly two decades!
Catrina and I have been part of the Loczi family for nearly 14 years leading projects and shaping the systems and processes that drive our work and highlight our brand. We’ve had the privilege of working closely with Paige, whose boundary-pushing designs and incredible vision have inspired us countless times. How many times have we said to her, 'You want us to do what?!?'—and then we did! Namely, designing an entire lounge space inside an enormous California Redwood tree trunk at the Exploratorium.
Catrina and I are deeply grateful to Paige—not just for her inspiring leadership, but for entrusting us with the opportunity to carry on the Loczi Design legacy. We’re also excited to continue working with her on special projects in her new role as Principal Emeritus. We’ll continue to uphold the values and creative excellence that have defined our design practice for nearly two decades while exploring exciting new opportunities for 'Loczi 2.0'—perhaps new product lines, expanded services, new locations - Hello Sacramento / Tahoe, or collaborations - We see you Fireclay and Scott + Cooner!! But for now, it’s business as usual, and we’re eager to continue delivering the thoughtful, beautiful spaces you’ve come to expect from us.
Below, you’ll find a letter from Paige reflecting on her journey with Loczi Design and this meaningful transition. Her words have inspired us, and we hope they’ll inspire you too.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us. We can’t wait to embark on this next chapter together!

End of an Era: Embracing the Future
- a letter from paige
Hi friends! I’m not typically one for interrupting your flow, but I had to get your attention this time.
As I reflect on 19 years of practice, purpose, and transformation and prepare to move on from my role as the CEO of LOCZIdesign, it is difficult to capture the full depth of this journey in a single letter.
Let me start with gratitude. Thank you for trusting us with your homes, your dreams, and your vision. Thank you for saying “yes” to the creative process, for embracing the challenges of design, and for having the patience to see lasting change unfold. It has been an honor to work alongside so many incredible clients, collaborators, and teammates over the years. I’ll be leaving Loczi, but the legacy we’ve built will continue to flourish under the continued leadership of Catrina Cooper and Mike Ufferman.
With a heart full of gratitude, I’m passing the torch to Catrina and Mike! I can’t think of two more capable, passionate people to lead Loczi into its next chapter. They’ve been my partners, my sounding boards, and integral to our success. I have every confidence that they will continue to foster the vision we’ve all worked so hard to create.
As we close out our 19th year, I find myself reflecting that we have always been about more than just design. Our mission to create spaces that balance, inspire and elevate lives has been a constant driving force – and I’m proud to say that we’ve built a business grounded in these values. More importantly, I think about the community we’ve built, our relationships and the shared passion for creating beauty that has guided us from day one and realize that we’ve built a family.
For me personally, Loczi has been a place of growth and exploration. It’s been a studio, a gallery, a meeting space, and, at times, a sanctuary. It’s been a place where we’ve asked big questions: How can we collaborate with extraordinary people doing things we’ve never done before? How can we create spaces that help us all thrive? The answers to those questions have shaped our work, our culture, and our approach to design.
While I’ll still be around for special projects, you can now contact me directly at paige@loczi.com. Over the next year, I’ll be taking time to consult, study, travel, and teach. I’m excited to work with my design collaborators at Make Conscious. I’ll also be the Chapter Lead for Project Color Corp in Chicago. Additionally, I’ll be teaching yoga at a retreat in Panama this October. It’s a new chapter for me, but I know that LOCZIdesign will always be a part of my heart, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
The strength of Loczi lies in the people who have made this journey with us. Our team has endured so much over the years – global pandemics, births, marriages, relocations, and the inevitable ebbs and flows of the marketplace – but through it all, we’ve remained resilient, adaptable, and deeply committed to the craft of design. To Mike, Catrina, Eva, Diana, Jennifer, Erik, and Sam, you are the lifeblood of this company. To Maria, Margo, Hannah, Magnus, Shayan, Mennlay, Christina, Julio, Renee, Nina, Rosemary, Anisha, Cristina, Michele, Alex, Jacqui, Louis, Molly, and so many others who have contributed to the heart and soul of our design firm, my deepest thanks.
We’ve also been fortunate to receive guidance from wise mentors who have helped shape our approach to design and business. Lisa, Jessica, Tim, Olga, Vera, Anthony, Gail and Erin – your insights and support have been instrumental in our growth.
When I look back on the past two decades, I’m reminded of some truly special moments. From the Exploratorium Opening Gala, “Seeds of Life,” to the SF Design Week Opening Reception, “Sanctuary,” and the many designCOLLECTIVE events we’ve hosted, these events have been our offering to the broader design community. We’ve partnered with some of the most talented people in the industry. Thanks to: Dave, Rick, Geza, Philip, Lloyd, Margie, Dina, Dorka, Katie, Laura, Ry, Gabriel, Phil, Zia, George, Masako and Brit for enlivening discussions about purpose, place and passion.
Thanks for epic captures: Chris, Marcus, Peter, Leah and Suzette. A special thank you to Mary Jo, Lisa, Lindsey, Erin, Lotus, Shannon and Zahid for seeing the beauty in our work and helping us share it with the world.
To our collaborators and craftsmen, you make our dreams possible: Darin, Klaus, Gus and Noelia, Gavin, Aimee, Joy, Daniel, Justin, Sung Kim and Kay, Brit, Andreea, Jill, Cory and Keren - thank you for sharing your gifts with us.
Each project has allowed us to learn, experiment, and innovate. To clients like Shelley and Adam, Nathaniel and Kaitlin, Tracy, Sarah and William, Daniella and Philip, Megan, Paula and Kai, Andrea, Dana and Lloyd, Debbie and Trent, Mac and Evan, Matt and George, Tim, Vineet, Wendy and Mark, Cindy and Brian, Anna, Justin – each of you has trusted us to create something uniquely yours, we are grateful for your partnership in this process. Special shout out to Josh and Barry who said “yes” to letting me decorate their penthouse when I was just a month into grad school!
As we look ahead to the future, I ask myself, and all of you: How can we continue to be a light in our community? How can we nurture and support each other drawing upon all that connects us? I hope that wherever life takes us, we continue to honor the beauty and abundance that is possible when we work together.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your trust, your support, and your belief in our work. The doors of Loczi will always be open, and I look forward to the future with excitement and optimism.
May the year ahead be filled with deep joy, love, and abundant beauty, always beauty.
