Improving Diets & Nutrition Through Food Systems: What Will It Take?
The Hybrid European launch of IFPRI’s 2024 Global Food Policy Report, co-organised by NFP, focused on the acute need for attention to food systems and nutrition. Ivo Demmers; NFP Executive Director, highlighted the “poly-crisis” of climate change, food insecurity, and biodiversity loss, emphasising the need for cross-sector collaboration with food systems as a crucial entry point. Moderated by Amanda Harding, the event brought together over 70 in-person attendees and more than 1,000 online participants from around the world to explore bold solutions for global challenges.

Report: Insights from SeedNL's Partnership Characterisation Study
SeedNL has released a comprehensive report detailing the outcomes of its Partnership Characterisation Study, conducted in collaboration with Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation. This study, which is also the trial of a tool for further use, examines the formation, ambitions, and effectiveness of partnerships across four countries: Ethiopia, Nigeria, Mali, and Uganda. Key lessons include the importance of aligning partnership goals with local agricultural needs and fostering transparent communication among stakeholders. These insights are invaluable for organizations engaged in multi-stakeholder collaborations aiming to enhance food security and sustainable agriculture.

Advancing Global Food Security: 22 Senior Experts Receive Funding
The Dutch Research Council (NWO) has awarded funding to 22 senior researchers from Dutch institutions through the NL-CGIAR Senior Expert Programme II (SEPII). This support enables collaboration with CGIAR, the world’s largest research network focused on sustainable food systems, to tackle pressing challenges like food insecurity, climate change, and biodiversity loss. As a longtime supporter of the NL-CGIAR strategic partnership, NFP is committed to strengthening food security in countries facing long-term crises and advancing the use of underutilized crops to develop innovative, sustainable solutions.
Bridging Biodiversity and Food Systems: UNCBD COP16 Session Recap
At UNCBD COP16 in Cali, Colombia, NFP and the PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency co-hosted a pivotal dialogue session at the NL Pavilion. This gathering united experts from science, policy, and practice to address the critical challenge of integrating biodiversity into food systems. Key contributors included Marcel Beukeboom, Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the UN Organizations in Rome, and Cargele Masso, Director of the Impact Area Platform on Environmental Health and Biodiversity at CGIAR. The session underscored the urgency of cross-sector collaboration to build resilient and sustainable food systems.

Debunking Notions
Mpologoma Media, Vice Versa, the NWO, INCLUDE, Knowledge Centre Global Health and NFP together present on 6th December 2024 at NWO, The Hague, the kick-off event for the Debunking Notions project. The event  aims to engage in a dialogue about equality and how individuals from Africa and the Netherlands perceive one another. The discussion will explore the prejudices and patterns that continue to impede equality. A central theme of the meeting will be the mutual appreciation of knowledge within research and development projects, emphasizing the value of equitable collaboration between Africa and the Netherlands.
