Recently, I burst into tears at a fancy restaurant when a fellow diner pointed at my shirt and said, “Love the shirt” (it read: Trans Rights Are Human Rights). Small acts of solidarity like hers are not only nourishing but necessary. Her kindness made me feel braver about my allyship to trans folks - and helped me build my “stand up for others” muscle.

Right now, I know many of us are frozen with dread about the upcoming administration, mourning the fires, grieving the holy land, etc…

This is not the time for staying small or letting your shyness win. If you’re physically safe (albeit uncomfy): wear the feminist shirt. Rock your “I Miss Obama” tee (Hi, Dylan!). Let's signal to each other that we will always unite for those who are excluded, disrespected, and targeted. (74% of us are in 1+ targeted categories!)

Here’s what I’ve learned from convening 300+ powerhouse feminist and LGBTQIA+ advocates, founders, and change-makers over the past five years in my accelerator, Future Thought Leader:

Yes, the current crises overwhelm. No, you do not need to fix them all. (In fact working on every issue burns us out - which stops us.)
How to be a change-maker when it's so overwhelming:

1. Pick one cause that fires you up, and go BIG on it. (Start with babysteps.)

2. Ally with an additional community /issue by following leaders more marginalized than you are.

3. Build in rest + joy—to stay grounded for the long haul. (LBGTQ + Black communities, for example, have ALWAYS had to balance lives of advocacy + joy and are great models).

Right now, I’m doubling down on consulting for companies that are wildly committed to fairness and respect (examples below).

And, I’ve launched a game-changing program to equip queer, trans, and feminist business owners to attract clients, amplify their voices, and make unstoppable impact (see below).

With love & resolve,

Hint: This also works for white women allies of women of color colleagues. (White women, tag we're it. Pew research, 2023.)

Ps: I recently learned that when a man overlooks a woman’s idea, only to repeat it later and take credit, it’s called “hepeated.” Honestly, too perfect! Credit to Alison Fragale who sites Nicole Gugliucci as the original author. (Likeable Badass, 2024)

CONSULTING for companies

Are your engagement surveys revealing dissatisfaction among women or other employees? Does a promising woman leader need coaching to step into her full potential? Are certain managers struggling to advance or hire women/BIPOC? Is HR hearing whispers of bullying or bias?

These challenges are fixable—and I can help.

With a graduate degree in gender/cultural studies and years of experience as a change management consultant and executive coach, I’ve supported fast-growing technology companies like 23andMe and Splunk, healthcare giants like UnitedHealthcare, video game moguls like EA, and global law firms like Dentons.

What’s the cost? It’s up to you. Need a quick, strategic one-hour session to ground your DIY-ing?… Or a fractional inclusion leader to own it all: I'm all yours.
