Hello First name / friend,
We have great news! We are going to be implementing a new life-saving, cervical cancer screening and treatment program in early 2025.
Dr. Maggie Carpenter, founder of
Go Doc Go, has donated a Thermocoagulator to SHI and our midwifery staff will be doing trainings with the Go Doc Go team, in the coming months.
The need for cervical cancer screening, treatment, access, and awareness is huge in Senegal. The risk of cervical cancer is higher amongst women in Senegal and developing countries, in general, due to the fact there is limited access to adequate healthcare services–including preventative screenings like pap smears, HPV vaccines, and screening programs for cervical cancer.
We are looking forward to starting this initiative and we will keep you all updated, as the program develops. Additionally, we are truly grateful to Dr. Maggie Carpenter for providing this life-saving equipment and we are looking forward to serving the women in our village and surrounding regions, with our new program.
