Friends—

Raise your hand if you're trying to keep up with all the news around the alleged UHC killer, Luigi Mangione—patron saint of class consciousness. I just want to know why they keep releasing new photos of him every few hours—side profiles, front-facing, full body, none of which match the CCTV footage.🤔

I watched a few clips of his attorney (hysterical) and it had me thinking of which fictional TV attorneys would I hire for my defense team. Most definitely Louis Litt and Joe Proctor (pour one out for his untimely demise)—back in the streets in no time!

A+ defense team:

random musings—
a collection of random, contemporaneous thoughts. no photos. just vibes.
  • Love reading and watching videos of Korean citizens pre-paying meals, snacks, and drinks at local coffee shops and cafes for those protesting near the National Assembly. We had the trend of suspended coffees a few years back in NYC but I think it's since died down (but please let me know if I'm wrong here). No better time to resurrect this form of mutual aid! Suspended coffees or caffè sospeso is a tradition from Naples, Italy where locals frequenting working-class cafés would pre-pay a cup of coffee. ☕️
  • Watched Bloomberg's Women, Money and Power event where Ida Liu of Citi Private Bank shared we're in the midst of the largest wealth transfer in history—$100 trillion of wealth going to next gen and millennial clients and that women will control over 50% of global wealth in the next 5 years (women control ⅓ today). Call me cynical but does this change much for the majority of folks? But sure, yay, more women-run family offices! 💡

Had no idea a web series was in the works but excited to start watching!

Based on the magical realist novel by Gabriel García Márquez, published in 1967 (which you should absolutely read if you haven't already), Netflix has adapted a 2 part series (16 episodes). The first 8 episodes have dropped and I believe the last set will drop in the new year.

The story follows the Buendía family and their multi-generational lore around the founding of the mythical town of Macondo. Several generations of the Buendía lineage will mark the future of this mythical town, tormented by madness, impossible loves, a bloody and absurd war, and the fear of a terrible curse that condemns them, without hope, to one hundred years of solitude.

We're TALKING ABOUT—
QNS to the WRLD  THE GLOBAL RUNDOWN
There's been a lot of chatter on “how can Syrians celebrate their freedom when the rebels are backed by US and Israeli forces”, so I appreciated this piece by an actual Syrian journalist. 🇸🇾
A gang leader who controls a key port in Port-au-Prince is accused of massacring older people and Vodou religious leaders in his community to avenge his son's death (after seeking their help for his son's illness), according to the government and human rights organizations that estimate more than 100 killed. 🇭🇹
John Galliano Says Good-bye to Maison Margiela After 10 Years via The Cut        So many Creative Director shuffles this year but not seeing enough women and people of color being selected to replace folks! Klausner was just appointed the other day to take over Dries Van Noten. 🤷🏾‍♀️
This video on the BTS of the Google Quantum AI lab makes the content much more digestible! While the beautiful chandelier is pretty to look at, all the magic happens on a tiny little processor chip
Exclusive: Luigi's Manifesto via Ken Klippenstein
Apparently mainstream media outlets have refused to publish Luigi Mangione’s “manifesto", leading to the circulation of fake manifesto copies. Klippenstein, who fairly recently went independent as a journalist, managed to get his hands on the original “manifesto” and has published it via his substack. I'm not convinced he wrote this one either though.. 🧐
Have y'all been to any of these spots?

We're lISTENING TO—

The clip of Ida Liu I alluded to earlier actually motivated me to watch the entire conference—to be honest, I would have enjoyed a solo segment with her. But having watched the rest of the panels, it always entertaining to see how women, like their male peers, tout their firm's total AUM before getting on with their talking points. Must be a finance thing..

Anyways, well worth a listen given all the geo-political shakeups and the fact that over 60 elections took place in 2024.
