It has been quite a year. Now more than ever, community is crucial — for our organizing efforts, collective resilience, and shared future. The difficult times are the most important times to keep practicing, and we need places to do just that!

 

I want to thank everyone who has joined the SomaSJ Free Online Practice Community. Since March, we have come together once a month to explore various themes — Collective Longings, Boundaries, Polarization and Trauma, Just Resilience, Love in a Time of Hate, Somatics & Contractions, Fear, Preparing Ourselves, and Collective Care. If you haven’t checked out this free online embodied practice group yet, we hope you’ll join us in 2025 (dates below). All recordings from 2024 can be accessed here. 

 

As we pause and reflect on the year, I am awed by how this community has come together through intense and changing conditions to learn together, grow together, and be on a path of embodying our visions and declarations. Your willingness to keep showing up and practicing has helped us cultivate a free embodied practice space committed to social and climate justice, to healing, to Land, and to a life-affirming future. Thank you.

 

This year we were joined by several incredible guest teachers, including Brandon Sturdivant, Erika Lyla, Kai Cheng Thom, Marai Larasi, and Toni-Michelle Williams, who each brought their unique teaching, embodiment, and experiences to the community. I’m excited for Erika and Brandon to continue guiding our practices, and to welcome more incredible guests in 2025.
